I don't understand why a coach would let a small group of players destroy a team from the inside. I have said before, bench them and get rid of them if they don't change. Even if you have to play with 5 or 6 six players only, you do what is best for the team. By ignoring the behavior you are just heading for disaster. Like this years dumpster fire. Very bad decision by Tinkle. Even if they didn't know the attitude or behavior of transfers in, it doesn't mean you have to keep them on the team(or play them) all season. It is Tinkles responsibility as head coach to know the players and to keep control of them. The assistants are taking the fall when they aren't totally responsible for the dumpster fire. If Tinkle didn't know he should have and could have dismissed the players from the team. No player is worth keeping if they cause issues. Of course, Tinkle is still around at least another year due to the elite 8 run. If he didn't make the run he might have been booted.

Thinking 40 years is a long time to think we were viable. They recruit for many reasons. We can bitch about it but they also have a basketball Coach,a budget, and attract top tier players. We are living in a fog. Unless Osu takes it seriously I believe we will be not relevant. I did watch elite 8 last Year. So here we are again. Our newest recruit was not highly recruited. That seems to suit us. We are at a time like I have never seen in college sports. Athletes have so much freedom of movement,it's hard to keep a roster together. Uo WBB just lost their fourth transfer today and most of these ladies are highly regarded...lost four last year too. It's about putting a cohesive unit together with players who blend well. Having a roster of all stars doesn't guarantee success...just ask uo MBB. NIT. Players want to play at all schools, and if they aren't playing enough ,it's easy to pack up and leave. Agree 100% with you. You get out what you put in. Make a commitment to a staff and a budget and results should get much better. BTW...Pope looks like a very solid player. Not saying he is a 4*,but a real good prospect when I saw him on t.v. yesterday.

I’ve echoed many of these same thoughts since I’ve heard some of the things that were allowed to go on

College sports is all about politics and, everything you see off campus -- social, economic, etc. -- is more severe on campus.

Basketball IS “a small group of players.” On a football team, it’s probably much easier because one player doesn’t matter as much. Even on a baseball team. I agree that Tinkle and the assistants bear responsibility. It’s their job to recruit good players who fit the team as the coaches see it. Who else can do that? And I think a coach that has a 3 win season, even after an elite 8 run, is living on borrowed time. No doubt about it. The university can’t have that sort of image. Attendance wasn’t great this year, and I expect it to be poor next year until the Beavers show something. So what’s the difference in all of this? Why do we keep Tinkle around? Except for the contract? My guess is that Tinkle and the AD have had long serious conversations about what happened this year and the AD understands. He knows that Tinkle hasn’t had such a failure before, so more of the onus falls upon the athletes and the circumstances. The likelihood of this happening again is low. So logically it makes sense to let Tinkle move ahead with his changes and start fresh in the Fall. All eyes will be on him, and he’ll have to prove that this year was a mistake. I think he’s earned that, even though I’ve never really liked him as a coach, except his first year or two.

Per ESPN box score, Davis started for Miss St, played 20 minutes, and finished with 6-0-2 with 2 steals and a turnover.
