The last six games against Nevada were all extra inning games. Oregon State won 10-7 in 2012. Freshman Michael Conforto hit a three-run home run in the top of the 10th to win 10-7.
And the seventh game was a one-run win, as well. Conforto drove in what proved to be the game winner in the seventh.
Matt Boyd gave up six earned runs in his 1.2 in the two games in Reno.
The six games before those were each laughers: five wins and a loss (2008).
The games in 2002 were both interesting, too. In game one, Oregon State blew a 2-0 fifth inning lead. Nevada blew a 5-2 ninth inning lead, and Oregon State won in extras 7-5. In game two, Oregon State blew a 4-3 fourth inning lead. Nevada blew an 8-4 ninth inning lead by giving up seven runs in the top of the ninth, Oregon State winning 11-8.
The last three times that Oregon State swept Nevada were: 2006, 2012 and 2018. The last split was 2008.
The last four times that Oregon State swept Nevada were: 2006, 2012, 2018 and 2022. Hopefully, 2022 winds up more like 2006 and 2018 than 2012. Here's hoping.
