Wow! We have won all three Pac-12 series, yet, Beaver Nation is not satisfied. It is baseball, people! We are going to have issues here, and there, and we are not going to win every game. Go Beavs!! I think the shaky (at times) bullpen makes people nervous.....I know it does me. The schedule does not let up so we will have our chance to prove it all on the diamond.

This is what happens when people care about rankings! Not sure what you mean by this. No talk of rankings in either post. Winning all your series is great for almost any baseball team….unless you are a powerhouse then not sweeping is a big deal. Success (rankings) being unrealistic expectations.

Bullpen shaky at the present time. Issues with the third starter and weekday starters. Won't be able to outscore everyone all the time. Desperately need someone to step up to the closer role. Need the bullpen to step it up. Need to find the permanent third starter until Pfennings gets back on the mound. A lot of questions with the depth in the pitching staff. Early in the season. I hope things will clear up before the stretch run.

I think this sums it up nicely......I will say, given not having sat, or sun guy, or Mundt, who prolly woulda been closer, or a very key reliever at a minimum......gotta give kudos to our staff as a whole. It hasnt been pretty at times, and there still definitely questions to be answered, but so far they have weathered the storm. Hopefully being battle hardened, learning from mistakes, will allow them to continue to hone their approach.

Did anyone catch Canham pre-game with Parker on Saturday? He talked about Dernedde carrying himself differently, gaining confidence at the plate, and expect good things from him.
He was really solid in the series, and especially today. That kid has been nails at SS. If he can continue to be solid at the plate, it's all gravy baby!

This series answered a lot of questions about the team and coaches for me. I think it gets taken for granted at times how much opposing teams level of play changes vs the Beavers. It's a different challenge when you're the team with the target on your back every week.
The defensive collapse on Saturday in the long run may be a great character/confidence builder for this squad. 4 errors in one game for a Beaver defense is about as shocking and hard to comprehend as getting four flat tires while driving 85.
Nothing seemed to go right on field, yet they battled back at the plate with a 6 run ninth to tie the game. That was a serious test for this team and they responded to the fire with some fire of their own.
Sunday's 0 error effort proved to me MC is able to get everyone right and focused on what is in front of them and not linger or waste a single thought over what was behind them. That is a unique gift not all coaches are gifted with. MC's instincts allowed him to pull all the right levers and push all the right buttons to have the team ready to go on Sunday. I suspect we will look back upon this series and see it as point this team and coaching staff came out of the fire even more confident and with a stronger belief they can overcome any challenge.

Good points.
MC had a reputation in the Mariner organization as a motivator and a manager that kept his teams grounded and focused. We will see that with his OSU teams moving into the future.
Temper some of the minor frustrations with the understanding we are competing with a crippled pitching staff and missing a dangerous left handed bat that can impact a game with one swing.
Questioning the Beaver's play and strategy is all fair game for fans and that is important to the game by game discussion. I'm all for that, my point is . . . . look at the big picture, we are not whole at this point. That has to be factored into some of the pitching criticism.
What I want to know among other things, is with two outs and 1B open, why in the hell are we throwing fastballs down the pipe to Dylan Beavers?

Loved that the team never quit on Saturday. I was called away from the game, so I missed the come back, but I was pretty sure that it was over anyway. Saturday’s struggles will end up paying off in the long run, and I think they show the heart of the team.

Actually there were no outs when Beavers came up, but walking him would've loaded them up. It was a much better idea to let Townsend throw one pitch to induce the double play ball that he did. Heck, we all knew Dylan Beavers wasn't going to hit another over the fence at that point. Didn't we? whew.
