Parker mentioned on the post game that Mitch was having a conversation on the bench with Mitchell. Mitch knows how hard Mitchell has worked to get healthy and how competitive he is. I would rather find out now if Verberg can come through in the clutch, versus later in the tournament when it really counts...I know all games count, but they mean much more obviously when we need a stop to advance.

Well, that game certainly was a ride. Hopefully with Pfennigs back that will reduce the bullpen innings to where the potential of uh oh moments will be limited. As for Verburg, one inning, at the start with no one on, and that's it. Even if he gets a three up three down performance, that's it. No more. He could still be a closer, but its going to be the classic 9th inning only closer, if he gets in during the 8th, it'll be a disaster. If he stays out for the 10th, it'll be a disaster. One inning only, 9th inning, and that's it.

Never seen a game like this. First 13-9 win since the 13-9 win over Washington in Seattle on March 4, 2000. (Technically a nonconference road game to try and balance out the three game conference set in Corvallis.) At the time, I was reacting to all the runs scored by balk and WP.

Got to listen and that game was nuts. Just finished the yard project apparently getting my wife’s opinion caused project creep.

Messi is out today. I’m doing yard work for a few hours but will do my version of PBP at the end of the game. PBP at the end of the game? I meant like last couple innings

Nice career? He was injured and recovering for so long. He has a 7-2 lifetime record, with a career ERA well under 3.00. He will have pitched for four seasons. He was a productive member of a conference champion and a CWS team in 2017. He was an honorable-mention all-Pac-12 player and HM all-academic award winner in 2019. He has his degree. By all accounts he's been a hard-working player and an outstanding, supportive teammate. So yes, I'd say he's had a nice career. My comment sounds flippant and disrespectful. Sorry. Yeah, I was thinking about last year and this year. And the long wait for him to recover. I think he still has life left, but he has to learn to pitch with what he has. Probably keeping him on a short leash is a great idea. I'd look at putting him in the closer spot.

This time it was the 3rd inning. So maybe a closer? He gave up two runs in the 8th, his second inning of work. Bazzana is hitting .398. It appears what we all saw last summer was not a mirage. Meh. Giving up a HR sucks, but it happens. After the double, he maintained his cool and got the K against a very good hitter with 3 straight pitches. The RBI base hit came after taking the batter to a full count. I saw more problem giving up the two hits so quickly in the 9th, especially to their #9 hitter. But yeah, let's limit him to a single inning.

Parker described the conversation as heated. obvious don't know what it was about, but Mitchell's biggest problem is that in his last appearance at Goss he was mostly 85 and touched 87 once. you don't close it the Pac 12 at 85 unless you have a trick pitch. seems like he was 91-93 with a much sharper slider before the injury. not every Tommy John surgery (May 2019 for Verburg) works out.

Wow! We have won all three Pac-12 series, yet, Beaver Nation is not satisfied. It is baseball, people! We are going to have issues here, and there, and we are not going to win every game. Go Beavs!!

I would also put that 2018 team in there. We won just as many games that year as well, but, included the National Championship.
