Anyone know what kind of velocity Ferrer has now? I know in high school he was almost pushing into the 90's.
Dernedde showing why he is on the field with that out. His poor batting this year is okay.

To me, naming Lattery the starter for a Sunday game suggests that Dorman is ready to see more from him. Seven outs isn't much of an outing. Hence, my question: What did Dorman see? Pretty hard to see on the stream but Parker was mentioning a few change ups where he didn't get much movement on it. Could be his tell that its time to hook him? If anyone is there live I'd love to hear what they saw. I see Lattery was throwing just above 50% strikes. That's a good reason to pull him. Something must've been off. |

He has some really filthy stuff. He has a weird strike out fast ball that he likes to locate low but it has some movement on it. I have no idea what the heck that is but I saw Mundt do it to last year. I've been high on him this season and think he is going to be essential later this year when we really stretch the bullpen. You should read chinmusic 's post vis-à-vis Lattery. Just a few days ago. Wednesday will be a study in the science of physics. ...deleted by nuke... Lattery threw for the pitching consults at Driveline Baseball in Seattle. Driveline is the test tube for pitchers including many MLB arms. The report that was tweeted, noted over 200,000 breaking balls were thrown last year in the Major Leagues. Ony 52 of those pitches had the metrics of Lattery's Slider. The combination of factors, which included - velocity, effective spin rate, horizontal break, vertical break, among several others, put AJ's pitch in the "filthy" category. Watch for it tommorow, in theory we should see a high whiff rate and no barrels on that pitch. Are you #$@$##$ kidding me? Thats a slider? Holy balls. I knew I wasn't crazy, that pitch looked special. |

yeah I don't know. I don't pretend to be a pitching expert in anyway. I can barely tell a slider from a curve live. The pitches that parker commented on just looked like duds. Good thing the location was out of the strike zone or they would have been smashed.
