Two very simple and obvious omissions from Goss:
1) Why has no one bothered to paint on the distances from home plate to left, center and right fields? What's that gonna' cost? A (very small) bucket of white paint??
2) Super fancy scoreboard out there in right field...so why not put a digital or analog clock on it somewhere? There's even a pitcher's "stopwatch" of sorts attached to it this year that no one pays any attention to...so what would be so hard about putting the time of day up there somewhere??
'Just wondering...

'Judge...With all due respect(!)....neither of your cited reasons are particularly good justifications for (1) not putting a clock up somewhere in Goss or (2) for not indicating the distances from home plate to the outfield fences.

I didn't say they were "good" justifications. The pitcher's "stopwatch" is the pitch clock. That is a rule now, but I have seen it hit zero and the umpires ignore it. Casey explained that he didn't want the distances on the fence. He mentioned in an interview that it was a psychological thing. He thought it made his players try to focus on hitting home runs too much. Seems weird to me, but that's what he mentioned in an interview several years ago. It's not a cost thing. There was a clock on the previous scoreboard. But when they upgraded the scoreboard, they removed it. Do you have somewhere to be when you're at the game? If so, wear a watch or check your phone.

Well, people have also had wrist watches for a hundred years, yet we still bother to put clocks on walls occasionally because it's an easy convenience. And if you'd personally prefer to look at your cell phone, rather than a clock to get the time, then knock yourself out. And the distance to the fences??...Casey's gone and, in any case, not every one of his ideas was necessarily genius. For gosh sake, put the distances up. It's easily accessed info and is of interest to paying fans. Neither of these "improvements" is expensive or obnoxious and could be accomplished with little trouble.

Do Reser or Gill have clocks? I don't even know, because why would I spend time searching for a clock when I can see it on my watch or phone faster. I'm pretty sure you're in the small minority that wants a clock put up.

I can still remember them from when they were up.

I'm pretty sure you're in the small minority that wants a clock put up. I believe there is a digital clock at the top of the seating area behind the east basket inside Gill. I remember long ago there was a clock in the window of the room that is waaaaaay up above the south seating side. As for Reser, there was a clock on the previous scoreboard but not on the current one.

I miss the clock on the Goss scoreboard. Most of the big parks I've watched them game in have a clock; it's a nicety, sure, but that means it's nice...

While we are on the subject there are a couple of things I would like to add to a fan want list now that PC has retired: (1) We need a "good" CF video camera to give us that angle shot from behind the pitcher to home plate on the live-streams so that we can see balls and strikes and what the pitchers breaking balls are doing,etc.---this makes the game so much more interesting to watch...Alot of times I just tune out the home live-streams because this feature is not available. (2) Now that PC is gone-(I understand he did not want this)- but let's get a "good" radar gun set-up on the pitchers so we can see what velocity they are throwing and have it read out on the score-board for all the fans to see, and also have it synched to show up on the live-stream picture and the home televised games. I think "most" fans would like to see this feature and many would be more inclined to come see the game live or watch it on TV if this feature was available....I know I would. To that end a little story here: I hate to say this but half of my family are Ducks and 1 daughter went to UO and we are all baseball fans so 3 or 4 yrs. ago we decided to get tickets to a civil war baseball game early in the year when the tickets first became available so we were deciding on whether to get them at Goss or PK park...the consensus was PK park and the deciding factor was that they show the radar gun readout on their scoreboard after each pitch.

I love Goss the way it is. I don’t need a clock reminding me that I should be doing something else. I don’t need the measurements of the ballpark. They only matter if you’re hitting home runs, and I’d rather home runs be hit by the team in Black and Orange which probably knows the readings anyway. I don’t need a speedgun on the pitchers. Sure, it can be interesting information but it’s something that the coaches need. I’m just a fan.
I like the simplicity of the ballpark. The easy stroll to grab a beer or a dog. The small size creates an intimate experience.
Goss is fine. Go to the park, and enjoy your time there. Be in the moment.

Would like a gun reading ….. tired of looking at scout guns.
