Coaches don't like a CF camera because it's an excellent scouting tool for opponents.
Wait a couple years and you'll have an excellent view from the party deck on top of the new CF hitting facility.

While we are on the subject there are a couple of things I would like to add to a fan want list now that PC has retired: (1) We need a "good" CF video camera to give us that angle shot from behind the pitcher to home plate on the live-streams so that we can see balls and strikes and what the pitchers breaking balls are doing,etc.---this makes the game so much more interesting to watch...Alot of times I just tune out the home live-streams because this feature is not available. (2) Now that PC is gone-(I understand he did not want this)- but let's get a "good" radar gun set-up on the pitchers so we can see what velocity they are throwing and have it read out on the score-board for all the fans to see, and also have it synched to show up on the live-stream picture and the home televised games. I think "most" fans would like to see this feature and many would be more inclined to come see the game live or watch it on TV if this feature was available....I know I would. To that end a little story here: I hate to say this but half of my family are Ducks and 1 daughter went to UO and we are all baseball fans so 3 or 4 yrs. ago we decided to get tickets to a civil war baseball game early in the year when the tickets first became available so we were deciding on whether to get them at Goss or PK park...the consensus was PK park and the deciding factor was that they show the radar gun readout on their scoreboard after each pitch. The scoreboard radar guns are highly inaccurate. So, that’s the wrong reason to chose a ballpark. If that’s what you’re after, I suggest a ride along with a State Trooper.

I understand they don't like the CF camera, but as a fan I love it. If coaches had their way we would only have radio & attend the game. Which I could probably live with.....I'm old school, but for people that like progress with technology..... Meh.

Very funny as usual Judge and notice that I emphasized getting a "good" radar gun set-up....I have been to many ballparks with the gun readouts going to the scoreboard and most of them have been consistent and accurate....a couple of them were not, but there are good radar gun systems out there to be had. For me it really adds to the enjoyment of the game to know what velocity the pitchers are throwing and I think "most" fans of the game would agree with me. However I realize this is a tough old-school posting crowd on here with many PC disciples so I understand where many of you are coming from on this.

When are they going to get over that guy?

I didn't say there was anything wrong with being a PC fan....in fact I said I understand them....but unlike PC I just happen to be one of many fans that would like to see the radar gun readouts to enhance our enjoyment of watching the games.

Thanks george....I had no idea what those puppies cost....$150 for the linked one and $300 for the pocket radar is nice ---about the size of a cell phone so would be much more inconspicuous....might have to put it on my Christmas list....of course as you mention the problem is getting close enough----says it will track a baseball up to 100ft away so you basically would have to be in the 1st row right behind home plate!

I love Goss the way it is. I don’t need a clock reminding me that I should be doing something else. I don’t need the measurements of the ballpark. They only matter if you’re hitting home runs, and I’d rather home runs be hit by the team in Black and Orange which probably knows the readings anyway. I don’t need a speedgun on the pitchers. Sure, it can be interesting information but it’s something that the coaches need. I’m just a fan. I like the simplicity of the ballpark. The easy stroll to grab a beer or a dog. The small size creates an intimate experience. Goss is fine. Go to the park, and enjoy your time there. Be in the moment. Oh good Lord...with all due respect Irmi...if there's a small stadium clock somewhere in Goss, speed gun numbers, and three small sets of numbers painted on the outfield walls and YOU don't want to look at them, then absogoddamlutely, don't look at 'em. But a lot of fans, not including you, would like to see them. So what's the harm of putting them there?? The answer....no harm done. Period.

This whole thread is like the peak of sports message boards.
And I love it.

We should immediately add those items because clearly, they are the only obstacles standing between our fans and true happiness.

I'm inclined to an analog clock on the scoreboard, as every scoreboard you see in old photos of bygone ballparks had one. And it seems all the new retro ballpark designs have this feature now.

Would you like some cheese and crackers to go with your whine? If “a lot of fans” care so much about these things, then they ought to take the appropriate steps to petition for their implementation. Complaining about it on a message board will only go to show that not everyone feels the way that you do. And in the end, you’ll get neither answers nor action. Which, as you know, I’m fine with.
