Well Irmi....if talking about any variety of possible minor changes or improvements on a (god-forbid and shudder) discussion board amounts to "whining," I suspect that you personally have had enough vino and cheese these past few years to be a constipated, confirmed sot by now.
As I said, if you don't want a clock, pitch speeds on the scoreboard or distances to the outfields painted on the fences, then don't look at 'em. The fact that the mere suggestion of those things bothers you so much is strange, to say the least.

You singled me out as if I was the lone dissenter and because I said that I like Goss the way that it is. I promise not to look. Just let me know when you get your clock up there and your numbers painted.

Actually Irmi...you should be complimented(!) that I singled you out a bit. You're one of the more reliable and reasonable posters here and I was surprised that you'd be so closed to adding those minor amenities. In any case, you're quite right about one thing...they'll likely never be implemented and any discussion here will have absolutely zero impact on whether they're added or not.

The pitch timer on the side of the scoreboard is also a time of day clock. The Knights use it in the summer, when there is no 20-second clock.

I'm inclined to an analog clock on the scoreboard, as every scoreboard you see in old photos of bygone ballparks had one. And it seems all the new retro ballpark designs have this feature now. I'd love to see an analog clock somewhere. Now if we can get a grad student ME along with an art major who likes sculpture, maybe something very nice and unique could happen.

Or you could think bigger and start up a fund to build an actual clocktower, like Sather Tower in Berkeley: The Tower in Austin (bathed in orange at night): Or the Purdue Bell Tower: It would not only help people tell time at baseball games, it would also help make Oregon State look more like a real University. Just a thought.

Almost every MLB park used to have a Longines clock like this. There was one at Gill Coliseum at one time, about 10-15 years ago I saw it in the basement in a pile of stuff ready to be trashed. I should have snagged it.

Would like a gun reading ….. tired of looking at scout guns. I'm all in on gun reading. If we're just making a wish list, let the record show that I'm also on board with a retractable roof.

Well, actually to REALLY be authentic, the top floor of a duplicate UC Berkeley campanile would have to house about a dozen 5X5X5 ft wooden bins filled with La Brea tar pit fossils....dire wolve and saber-tooth tiger skulls, ground sloths, bird skeletons, etc. Not kidding....they're really there to this very day...
Great additions to any collegiate ball park.

How about moving that clock-carillon tower by the library over to the center field area, just in front of the batter's eye screen. Every time we hit a homer...ring the bells. No one in the SEC has done that yet!! Good publicity

This would be the way to go. If we're going to do it, let's do it right. Maybe Safeco wants to put it's name on a field of a winning team....

Only if there is a clock attached to the roof and a radar read out.

Back in Corvallis for the first time in a long time. Still a beautiful campus even without a damned clock.

I am aware. You can't even see it over the Library. I meant a real clocktower.
