It's dam hard to score 34 runs without hitting any dingers !Death by a thousand cuts crew.Without looking we may have as many walks as we do hits or dam close to it.I am picking Wheeler to be the first to clear the fences. Really nice to listen to a announcer who can keep your interest for 9 innings....

Agreed. But, it is tough to call the competition good when they can't throw strikes. Good teams (they may end up there) don't walk that many. Good/better teams do however take advantage. The problem with qualitative labels this early, "good" vs ?? really means what? Is OSU better going 4-0 vs this comp or let's say 1-3 vs Texas or Vandy?? Absolutely no way to know and fans could argue each effectively. Hell, players wouldn't know. They focus on adjusting, getting better, helping their team no matter past results. I'm just want the preseason to allow this team to grow and be better than 16-14 in Pac12 play and be "good" enough to host a regional... at least!

What has really impressed me, so far, with this OSU team, is their base running. The make decisions quickly and are very fast runners.

The most impressive things to me were the stolen bases, plate discipline, and just the sheer relentlessness of the lineup. We have some serious tough outs throughout the lineup.

I'll take our 4-0 and total domination in the desert! We did what we should've done. We have a reeeeeally good lineup. But a lot of things have to line up, including some luck, to go all the way.......conference will be grind like it always is. I watched a bit of ARZ this weekend, and their lineup is scary...

I like that there are very few easy outs given up. We have been very competitive at the plate. A 10 pitch K makes a pitcher work for the outs, a 6 pitch inning is just bad team offense.

Idk about anyone else but i am very worried about the pitching. Obviously the 3rd weekend starter is now a huge drop off. What are the details behind Will F?
Also, how about the back end? Did we quit Mundt or did he quit us? Very confused at losing him. Not sure i trust most of the bullpen guys against formidable teams.

It was said on the broadcast today that Will's injury is not suspected to be long term.

We've got enough arms to put it all together and the midweek games will be giving some of those talented arms the looks they need. I also like the quicker trigger right now, pulling kids off of the mound when trouble begins. I expect to see the pitching staff to mature nicely through the season.

Just would rather Kmatz be a luxury than a necessity.
To be fair, I missed most of his start. Numbers look decent. But if we want to win it all, he would need to be special from that Sunday starter role.
What other arms are you most excited about? No lefties. Not much experience.
Not to be a downer btw. Just worried. Loved when we went Eisert-> Chamberlain->Mully. Not sure who we have now. But we need someone to step up.

Mundt is still listed on the roster. Looks as though he is still on the team.

Just worried. Loved when we went Eisert-> Chamberlain->Mully. Not sure who we have now. But we need someone to step up. We have Frisch and Mundt in the wings. And we have Sebby and Verburg who have experience. I want to see more from Hibbard and Grewe. Hibbard threw in two games, closing out the first one and getting some work in the last game. Nice percentage of strikes to balls. Also, Grewe entered yesterday’s second game and threw well. I want to see more. I’m guessing that Hibbard and Grewe and the others will see small roles from time to time as they develop. But that’s important for middle relief and such. Sebby and Verburg should be able to handle bigger roles. Frisch and Mundt, when they come back, will give us more than enough arms. Remember, this was a four game “series.” I feel pretty confident that we have enough arms to patchwork a Sunday game together.
