Too late to edit the original post... Some good stuff in this one regarding Andrea. For one... there's "been talk" about her getting a brief appearance in game. Also, it was OSU that wouldn't let her play... she could have transferred elsewhere, but chose not to. He also talks about her contributions to the team, as does Ellie. If they do anything like that for Andrea it would be cool. I'd love to see her somehow get the chance to take a shot, but that seems unlikely. |

The Beavs need to play confidently and make some 3's. Got to make Stanford uncomfortable about themselves winning the game. Keeping turnovers down to a manageable level would be nice, also.
They don't have to play perfectly just need to continue what happened in the second game against tsdtr and they'll have a chance.

Stanford coach has athletes that are good shooters and tall. They have got inside strength and a tweener girl that’s a wing post in Jones. They are a hard team to match up with. That why Arizona frustrates Stanford because Stanford has a hard time matching Arizona’s speed.
Things to be wary of. They have a lock down defender in Wilson. They will guard whoever gets hot on our perimeter. They will use her to stifle whoever is at point.
They can get us transitionally or 3 point land. Which they will use to move our bigs out far enough to then hurt us inside. This will be a coaching nite mare for Rueck.
Our defense tends to be limited because of there overall speed.
SO, we need to slow them down enough and at the same time put enough points in the bucket to be in the game at the end to beat them.

Say we need 65 + to win.

My perception is that over the past three years Stanford has out recruited OSU in a much greater way than had happened for the previous several years.
That has resulted in recent games with the Cardinals not being competitive (usually at least a 20 point difference). We seem to be able to have close games often with the other teams in the conference, but the gap between Stanford and OSU seems to be widening steadily.
Do others share my perception and if not I would appreciate knowing how you appraise the Stanford/OSU situation.

Stanford's recruiting is a result of the pool of players who can get into Stanford. They ended up this year without a PG because there was no one of high caliber who could get in. But if you can get in you probably are going to want to go there. OSU's ability to recruit is reflected in the fact that they beat out Stanford occasionally in the recruiting wars. The only other times I recall that happening is UConn a couple of times.
