Love to see TvO just decide to be the offense. She might as well be shooting 20+ per game, as right now a bad shot by TvO are more likely than a lot of our players with open looks. This team really needs to just play the game. They have put too much time into their craft to waste it playing like a Ralph Miller-coaches postseason team. Wow... pretty bizarre post. Especially since this is a SR coached team playing like this in the regular season.

Just got back home from the game. Hopefully it played out better on TV than it looked in person. A win is a win...whew, but another atrocious shooting performance.

Loved Kennedy’s toughness - she was getting manhandled and gave them some pretty sweet payback !
Also loved that we started a full court press to get some turnovers and scores ! USC was rattled.
Go Beavers !

She is a great player so you dissed on her way too much in the past and she proved you wrong. If you think one player can do it all without more help then you have been drinking too much during the games.

Exciting game to watch in person.
Marshall at the top of the key wasn't missing shots. Not what she usually does and so the Beav's weren't reacting well to it. She also almost single handedly moved OSU from the third least blocked team to the 35th place.
Rueck is trying to figure out where they are going to get their scoring from and I'd say the Brown shooting mid range shots experiment is a failed one. KB mentioned once that she was working on it during the summer but I'd say it's still very much a work in progress.
Taya's shot wasn't there today but I'd say her play in every other way is one of the major reasons they won this game. Rebounds, passing, defense (4 steals), she was amazing.
The best three point shooters, Greta and AJ, took 6 shots. The worst three point shooters, Emily and Tea, also took 6 shots. I think this is messed up.
Emily played all of the overtime and Greta and AJ none. If Rueck keeps this up he's going to lose them at the end of the year just like last year. And statistically and by my eye AJ was having a better game than Emily. They won the game (yeah), but why was Emily out there?
Tea vs Talia as the PG is so absurd. Tea's quickness that people seem so attached to just gets her into trouble.
They need to figure out how to get more points. I'd look at the Frosh because that's the future and I think their play deserves it.

Sasha Goforth was No. 2 on the team in minutes last season. She did not leave because of a lack of playing time, as you suggest.

AJ and Greta should be playing more and Tea and Emily less. Part of it two are freshmen and need the experience. The second part if highly sought recruits don't get playing time and then look at the newbies coming in well its transfer portal time.

Emily Codding's defense was one of the difference makers last night. If she's not there to snuff a fast break in regulation, overtime would have probably been a moot point.

Kennedy looks very good in the mid-range shots during warm-ups, so I think she is capable. Another thing I noted in warm-ups last night is the assistant coaches directing them through two new warm-up shooting drills… one where the player drives towards the basket and kicks it out to the perimeter for a shot and another where the coach set a screen for the player’s shot. That was the first time (in many years of watching) that I can remember the warm-up routine being changed.
Regarding guard play, my only complaint with Tea is her shooting… otherwise, we do need her for her ball handling skills. I too was thinking that AJ and Greta should play more. Greta’s biggest problems have been finishing on drives and pull-ups and getting open for her three point shot; she really is a great shooter.. just needs to get the looks. AJ was very good last night.

Was at game last night.
1. Rueck had OSU in zone early after man-to-man defense was ineffective. Our zone is pretty effective and long. Kept us in the game. I think we'll see a lot of zone rest of season. BTW, Emily Codding is an intelligent defender in the zone, even if she is a not much of a contributor on offense. 2. TvO was the story, and not just her offense. TvO played solid D all night. Rebounded too. 3. Our offensive sets got us open looks. We just bricked everything. Something I saw in warm-ups that I haven't seen before was a player drove to the rim, stopped, and turned and hit an open player. Looked great in warm-ups. I saw it happen in the game multiple times, and every shot was bricked. KB had so many open looks and couldn't convert. 4. Jelena needs to quit reaching, and bringing her hands down on a block attempt. She is a great rebounder, and we could have used her more tonight, but she got in foul trouble early. 5. Would like to see Taya go to the rim a lot more. Taya is quicker than a lot of post defenders. This season when she does decide to go to the rim, Taya converts or gets fouled. 6. I thought AJ was solid tonight. Great contribution for the minutes played. Greta on the other hand continues to hesitate when she gets an open look. Cannot hesitate in PAC-12 as defenders close space quickly. Coaches have to get Greta going. 7. I liked when we went into the press...it was effective again, like in 4Q at WSU. I think we'll see more of it vs UCLA
TvO is the new Syd Wiese. And she is a freshman. Unbelievable player.
