There’s no sugarcoating position we are in as league. Everyone knows it. He speaks to it. In my mind to change it we must acknowledge it, be honest, then deal with how we improve. George is on right track in my opinion. A lot of work to do…. But, "Beaver fan" here not only knows the how, what, when, why a Pac12 commish should act. And, now knows more than the Pac12 Presidents and their research in hiring the commish!? Just "wow" I've undersold membership here. I never knew they had such leadership experience. They're entitled to their opinion, I respect those guys and see their point to a degree. I also know the Pac 12 haa been absolute s%#t as it relates specifically to football, everyone on college football knows it is, who the F would buy into any of the sugarcoating they prefer? I mean, is ESPN gonna up the offer if he stucks to selling elite education, beautiful west coast weather and cool uniforms at hole and ASU?

Just "wow" I've undersold membership here. I never knew they had such leadership experience. Thank you for illustrating the appeal to authority logical fallacy, mixed with an ad hominem logical fallacy. Great stuff, as usual. Are you trying to intimate that this board does not have more combined business acumen than the Pac-12 Presidents? Please! Robert Robbins is a cardiothoracic surgeon. Michael Crow was an energy research honk before becoming an Energy Professor. Carol Christ is a 77+ year old English Professor, who was retired for three years before taking over the Chancellor position at California. Former Minnesota Republican Representative and one-time Senate candidate (lost to Amy Klobuchar in her first Senate election), Mark Kennedy, had been brought in as President of Colorado in 2019 in a 5-4 Republican Board of Regents vote. Democrats were able to flip one seat in the 2020 election to get a 5-4 Democrat majority. The Board and Kennedy immediately got into it and Kennedy announced his decision to leave his position on May 10, 2021, effective July 1, 2021. Effectively, with the fiction between Kennedy and the Board, Colorado did not have a de facto President for several months leading up to Kliavkoff's hiring. Michael Schill is a Property Law and Urban Planning Professor and has never not had a primary job that was not academic. F. King Alexander was President beginning on July 1, 2020. He resigned on March 23, 2021. There was no President until May 1, 2021, when Becky Johnson took over for Alexander. Johnson has been a Forestry Professor her entire life before becoming Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and then Vice-President for Oregon State's Cascades Campus. Marc Tessier-Lavigne (a Canadian, who grew up in Europe) has been in academics his entire life, except for an 7-8 year stint as the Vice-President of Research and Drug Discovery at Genentech, a biotech company. Shortly after the company was acquired by Roche, Tessier-Lavigne quit his job and got back into academics. Gene Block received his Psychology Doctorate from the University of Oregon. Block is a "Biological Timing" (Circadian Rhythm/Internal Clock studies) Psychologist, who primarily studied crayfish, fruit flies, mice and plants and then tried to apply such studies to humans. Carol Folt was a Metal Toxicity Scientist for about a year before getting into academics. Ruth Watkins is a Child Language Doctor. She announced that she was stepping down as President of Utah on January 12, 2021, effective April 7, 2021. Taylor Randall was not hired to replace Watkins until August 2021, after Kliavkoff was hired. Ana Mari Cauce is the younger sister of a well-known Communist activist, who is Washington's first woman, gay and Hispanic President. She is a trained Child Psychologist but transitioned into an Ethnic Studies Professor. Kirk Schulz is a Chemical Engineer. Georgy Boy, I will leave it to you. Who exactly is the great athletic and/or business-savvy President, who you are hanging your hat on here? Each of the 12 are geniuses in what they do, for sure. Do not get me wrong. Fill in the blank, "Oh, we can all rest easy because __________ is one of the 12 people who made the hire." Whose name do you fill in? Until then, you can just can it with your patronizing tone.

Lol... do you ever read your own arrogant regurgitated info. You know info anyone could look up if it meant anything to anyone! And, that those listed accolades and credentials somehow eliminate those folks from being capable of hiring a good commish! Their contacts, research, and other means alone give them insights that no one here will ever have. And no one here has ever been in a position to hire at that level. Only your arrogance would allow you to argue these people aren't qualified by a abridged list of their achievements. You know zero about who they are and what they've done. You list labels as a focal point to who av person is and what they are capable of. Ha, no surprise there! Is any hire a guarantee? Nope. But, how long has he been on the job? How long do you think it takes in a multifaceted corporate field to even begin to right a nearly sunk ship? But, no matter. I'll stand by my comments. That members of this fan board acting like they know how to best run, promote, and hire at the major college level is pretty funny and worth every drop of sarcasm. Especially if it invites such bombastic, off the wall, and surely abtime consuming retort!

To me it appears he was giving a bit of a polite nudge to the Presidents that their respective athletic departments' hands are tied if the University leadership doesn't buy in as well. I think that was fine, and something a lot of potential commissioners might whimp out on publically addressing.

I think some of them do buy into whats good for football and basketball is good for the universites. It would take some research on the other ten but I know Oregon and Oregon State have supportive Presidents. You usually see their names or comments in big new athletic press releases. Some of the other Presidents, not so much. If your at Cal for instance you are on your own as an AD.

The point is -Kliavkoff shot his mouth off first - and seven months in, he uses his mouth to disparage the PAC 12 . Simply put, would you walk into an auditorium of ‘employee’s’ and criticize your ‘company ‘ and all of your employee’s ? No, you take it to a BOARD and a subsequent planning meeting and discuss in the framework of bringing solutions and new ideas and making appropriate changes ! You have zero credibility until YOU take charge and do something, anything ! Just criticizing is not doing ‘something’ - and it does not help the situation , it makes it more difficult , because you now have people pushing against you !
