Kennedy’s offensive game is pretty disappointing at times. She seems to, too frequently, miss point blank layups and her moves lack finesse and touch at times. Would really like to see her improve on that end because she really is an elite defender.
Overall a very solid half despite not being able to connect much from three. Liked what I saw on the defensive end.
The ESPN box score has only awarded Jelena one assist - was pretty clear she had two, both to Ellie.

This seems like the most energy I've seen them play with. Up 38 - 24 at halftime on the back of good defense. 3-point percentage has been worse, but they're approaching 30%.

UNI got a little scrappy defensively in the 2nd quarter and we seemed to handle it OK. On a side note, does anyone know why the Ohio State v. UCLA was not on Pac-12 network this afternoon?

UCLA Covid protocol. I think the two best positives of the first half were defense and the better passing has continued from the last game.
Offense hasn't been great, but you can see it improving. I think the turnovers were low. Can the Beavs continue the improved play through the second half? If anything, so far this year we haven't seen a lot in terms of a 40 minute solid game.

Ice cold shooting behind the arc is back in Q3. Keep missing wide open looks. Somebody has to start knocking those down. Not just for this game, but for the season.

Can't hit the broad side of a barn. Also, Emily isn't in yet, but she's always been good at 3pt shooting. Has been awful this season. Hopefully that changes.

I don't think the offense was broken, but the shooting was. This Beaver team is just not a good shooting team yet, especially from distance. There is some talent there though, so maybe that will change as the season goes along.

Had to quit watching. 3rd quarter the offense is broken. 14 point halftime lead drops to 11 and you have to stop watching? Certainly not a great quarter but doesn't seem THAT catastrophic. Not to tell anyone how they should watch the beavs but it takes a lot worse than that to make me turn off the game. |
