Watched the post game interview with Rueck, TvO, and Taylor. I feel better, because Rueck saw all the same things we all saw in the game today. He is moving up on his teaching priority, transition defense, and ball security. Rueck really believes the talent & character on this current team is great, and they need reps together, and, learn how to play for 40 minutes with the intensity they play in Q4. He is impressed with this team's ability to raise their intensity & execution during crunch time. Rueck claims this team is further along than last years team at this time. If somebody could post the interviews, that would be greatly appreciated. We're relying very heavily on freshmen in the back court, and it shows. In our half court offense, there's not enough movement without the ball and not enough movement of the ball itself. on defense, we don't fight through screens as well as we should. Also, I'd like to see more plays designed to get shorter shots, like an elbow jumper. If you can't shoot the three well (which we can't at this point), move a bit closer in. I'm thinking mainly Kennedy here, but there's plenty of others on the team who could stand to see their FG% go up. On the bright side, still a month before conference play starts. I think Scott's settling on a rotation; hopefully, they'll gel over that time.

Thanks much for posting greybeav. Scott does a nice job of communicating good things about his team.
Was it just me, or did Talia almost seem like she was ready to cry throughout that interview?

I just watched a recording of the second half. Ellie really played well. I like her aggressiveness around the basket and she knows SR's system really well.

The Beav's had real problems against Stanford on their transition defense last year. This game is a great heads up on preparing them for that.
Greta was willing to take some shots so now they have something to look at to help her figure it all out (as opposed to the last game where she took one shot).
Talia spent more time trying to get her teammates involved on the offense.
Taya and Ellie are cold from the three so they went inside. Seems smart to me.
There, something good out of this game.

Our transition defense was the worst I have ever witnessed from a Rueck team I saw the Beavs play Sacramento State in around 2010. Sac won. Sac had a guard that hit maybe 4 uncontested 3's in a row in transition. I remember yelling something like,"someone should pick her up." Jaime Weisner looked up at me (I thought she was the one who should be guarding) but I couldn't read her expression. I don't see much of our women's team but not caring about transition D is nothing new.

I can see how you could think that. I don't think she was about to cry, I think she's just a bit under the weather. Sounded a bit like a cold/the sniffles.

Greta's block at 32 seconds is impressive:

and the press conference: Does anyone know who the media people are at these press conferences? I heard Steve Gress' voice, heard the guy from BeaversEdge. Usually Daschell is there but didn't hear him in that conference, although questions where sometimes hard to pick up. Also usually one or two sports reporters from the Eugene stations.
