I'm definitely worried. They hadn't looked like world beaters previously. CSUB game was kinda uninspiring, Cal Baptist actually outplayed them noticeably with the exception of the 3rd quarter. Disappointing coming back from Florida with two losses. Then this clunker today. Last year started off really bad, things finally clicked when TVO joined the team. I don't think they're going to get a difference making player added in January this season. Better figured something out quick.

6 games into the season, the only things I see this team doing well thus far is rebounding (averaging + 15 per game) and shot blocking(averaging 7 per game). They're slow on defense, don't run the court well, and don't shoot particularly well - especially 3 point shots. They have a ton of work to do before conference.
If Scott is going to split point guard duties between Greta and Talia when both are in the game, I think that's a good move at this point. Adams only played 3 minutes today.

I agree completely regarding Greta… Scott definitely needs to continue giving her time at PG. Tea did horribly in the little time she had (two terrible passes that were stolen).

Two horrible passes and one nice drive to the hoop....which no one else seems able to do.

I too am bothered by the lack of development from some of the returners.
- Jones is still mechanical with her moves. She worked a ton on expanding her game, and yet still doesn't seem to be able to read what the defender is giving her, and just forces what she has in her mind.
- Mitrovic has yet to break the habit of bringing the ball down. It's clearly not natural for her like it is for Jones, but if it's something worked on repeatedly, it becomes muscle memory. So far it's just the opposite, and makes her easy to defend.
- TvO is a combo guard, and forcing her to handle the ball against quicker defenders the whole time takes away from her game. It did the same for Aleah for a long time until she finally figured it out, but it took quite a while, and she's a very smart, hard-working player. Not making TvO learn it all at once would help this team's prospects.
This team just looks generally uncomfortable with what's happening vs. what they are capable of so far.

I'm pretty sure it was after a no call that Rueck thought should've been called. Pacific had the ball at the time the tech was called. I did think Rueck did it mostly to fire the team up, but it didn't work at that time in the game. Agreed. It was after a foul non-call against Taylor that Scott thought was obvious. Callan's mic picked up someone yelling "DO YOUR JOB!" right before the T. Agreed, sorry for misremembering. GO BEAVS.

Well...Oregon is struggling against UC Davis today. Maybe something in the water today.

Too many 5 star players with too tight of reins. Sometimes you have to let players play.

They are going have to win games this year when the freshman just shoot at will. I recall Kat as a freshman being willing to just go Bombs Away rather than forcing a pass to Marie.

Yeah, speaking of not looking so great early season, the Quackers just got dumped (at home) by US Davis.
Agree w/the reins comment. Just turn them loose and let them play. However, we do need a floor general.

Well...Oregon is struggling against UC Davis today. Maybe something in the water today. and in fact the Eugene WBB team loses (at Home)....now 3-3. Just under 23% 3-Pt shooting. Bad day in The Valley from behind the arc for the home teams.

25-2 fast break points for Pacific. They just had a fast break off a made basket. The Beavs are so slow. It has nothing to do with team speed, it’s about ball awareness. 5 players jogging back with their heads down are going to be embarrassed with a pass over their head. They need to pick up their defensive assignments early and make the ball handler go east/west instead of north/south. Deven, Jamie and Sid had that problem when they were young. They figured it out and became a pretty good defensive team.

Watched the post game interview with Rueck, TvO, and Taylor. I feel better, because Rueck saw all the same things we all saw in the game today. He is moving up on his teaching priority, transition defense, and ball security. Rueck really believes the talent & character on this current team is great, and they need reps together, and, learn how to play for 40 minutes with the intensity they play in Q4. He is impressed with this team's ability to raise their intensity & execution during crunch time. Rueck claims this team is further along than last years team at this time.

The breaks off of made baskets is correctable. Looked to be a floor valence issue where usually TVO got close to the basket, and we had no guard rotating back for floor balance. Greta likes to crash, and she’s good at it, but we have to make sure we have defensive responsibilities covered.
Lots of things to correct, but much better to learn from a win.

Really good stuff - thanks. Keep it coming in future games.
