Just for fun I looked up the ESPN rankings of the two teams players. Notre Dame- Starters 11, 20, 100, 8, 18. Bench 16 and 6. OSU- 25, 43, 26, 20, 32. Bench No one in the top 50. ie ND has two players on the bench rated more highly than the top rated OSU player. Not to speak for you but you might be implying that recruiting is a big part of it.

Chit, And losing a recruit to whoregon today does not help either. We are a FUTBOL school, period. Certainly today put the Beavs on the back burner until any team can win another game. MBB, doubtful anytime soon. WBB, maybe, but we are not NEARLY the team that everyone was expecting coming into this season, a bit disappointing I think. Football, we'll see, they were overmatched today and I think held the quacks on downs just once, at least that is all I remember, their punter was seen sleeping on the sidelines. That doesn't win games at any level. Bad day in Benton county... Baseball. Period. Beginning in 2006, Beavs have more National Championships on the Diamond, than any other University. And OSU has more has National Championships on the Diamond, than any other University does during that period on the Gridiron, EXCEPT Alabama. Sorta a weird comparison I know, but the point is that schools such as The Ohio State, etc. have this ambience of being National powers in their sport (football in this case)....yet Oregon State surpasses those schools football 'prowess', with the Beaver baseball program. The list of schools that OSU surpasses include: Baseball - Vanderbilt, South Carolina...and ALL Others Football: Clemson (2), LSU (2), Ohio State (1) to name a few.

Well, we know a lot more about this team now. The two key issues: 1) We have the same problem we always have had with high defensive pressure. 2) We don't have an effective point guard. TVO tries to do too much herself, which is fine when she's hot (as in the fourth quarter), but otherwise it leaves us floundering. We need our point guard to effectively involve the other players and TVO has not done so to this point. If we are going to address the first problem she has to accomplish the second. Last year we dealt with problem #1 because we had an experienced, knowledgeable point guard in Aleah. This year hinges on TVO developing her PG skills and not just going 1-on-1 most of the time. Clearly we need further development from Tea too. In general, we need to develop the team's ball-handling skills and recruit better ball-handlers in the future. I think you aren’t recalling Aleah dribbling a ton and our offense stagnant until TvO arrived last year and we were losing lots of games. SR’s offense (against non-zones) has the PG dominate the ball. SR will need TvO to make the same leap Aleah did last year in reading the defense coming off pick and roll situations. You are right that Aleah dribbled around a lot, but I don't recall her going 1-1 as much without passing off. She knew the plays and she tried... but the first problem I mentioned limits anyone's ability to do that ... defensive pressure. Spacing and ball movement improved later in the year and I think that improved our ability to handle pressure (in addition to having TvO); hopefully that will happen this year, but we need TvO to improve others to help her more.

Aleah got a lot of lay ups and short range shots off of her dribble going down the right side of key her senior year. I think we need to swing TVO around a bit to keep her scoring ability in the game. tea is the better athlete of the two. Seems however Tea must have some problems picking up our offense. But nows the time for her to pick it up. She has gotten 5 assists in a game so she doesn’t mind passing. Just needs to get comfortable with our offense. I’m not totally sure of the above other then she has a bit more speed then TVO.

FWIW Louisville is stonewalling Michigan right now. Wolverines are stuck at 9, 4 minutes into Q2. You read that correctly.
Notre Dame is in a battle w/ Michigan St. but has the lead in Q4.

Watching Michigan against a very bad Wisconsin team right now. Between this and the beatdown they suffered against Louisville...Michigan just isn't very good. Beavs coming back from this event 0-2 could really haunt them as the season goes on.

Michigan was dinking around for 2 1/2 quarters.
Look at some of the teams Wisconsin has lost to this year (Chicago St. year in and year out is among the worst in D1 and they beat Wiscy).

Wisconsin scored 81 points against Michigan! OSU offense has a ways to go if we are going be competitive each and every game.
