We are still a "work in progress" which is to be expected when incorporating and reincorporating so many new faces. This could be a bit like last season when we find ourselves progressing throughout the season, but I think we're starting off in a much better place. My thoughts on a few players:
- Kennedy looked pretty comfortable and had a strong all around game. Her passing and shot blocking were sharp, and she seemed more willing to bang down low than she did in 19-20. She still misses some easy shots sometimes, but for her first game after missing a whole season, I thought she looked pretty good.
- Greta really lets the game come to her. She doesn't force anything, but I'd like to see her be a little more aggressive on the offensive end. She moves quickly on defense. Very fundamental and I think she'll get more comfortable on the offensive end as the season progresses.
- Talia did some really good things, but also struggled with turnovers. At times she picks the ball up too early and at times she forces passes that aren't there. She had some sneaky impressive steals on the defensive end. After watching the Arizona/Louisville game, I'll be interested to see how Talia handles pressure teams like Arizona and UCLA will put on her.
- AJ was impressive. Really solid all around. Does all the little things. She wasn't a great three point shooter in high school, so if she can be consistent from behind the arc that'll be a huge asset for this team.
- Tea had some highlight reel passes. When she plays in control, she's very solid.
I'll be interested to see who is in at the end of tight games.
