Te'a is getting some great assists! Kennedy is playing lights out with blocks backdoor baskets.

UW has 35 (!) turnovers against USD, but they lead 54-51 with :44 left. Absolutely pathetic. Ended w/ 36. No FG for the last 8 minutes. Tried to blow a 16 point lead, but hung on. Every bit as bad under the new coach as the old coach. I might have to give up following the Dawgs.

Mannen looks pretty good tonight. I was just going to say that. She found another gear, showed some quickness. In the first half she had a solid offensive play and followed it up by hustling down the court and finding their open player. It put her way out of position in a zone defense, and when our other wing made it down court Mannen needed to get out in her position. I figured it was going to be one of those lost on the court plays that she sometimes did. But no, she was able to get in position to make a good defensive play. The rest of her time in the first half she was solid. At least against lmu the game finally slowed down for her. Now she needs to transfer that feeling to every game.

If you saw that game, or if you go to twitter, you'll see a great block by Kennedy Brown. If you go to the box score, you'll see she didn't have any blocks. I feel bad for her. That was a fun block that apparently didn't really happen.
Talia was credited with 6 TO's, which she really needs to reduce, but she had 5 steals, so that was pretty much a wash.

For those who had trouble viewing:
LMU kept trying to take the ball inside and just got smothered almost every time. OSU had 13 blocks through 3 quarters. Their tallest player was, I think, 6'2", so Taylor and Kennedy just had a field day inside. AJ made an early 3 by bouncing it off the glass, which it is doubtful she called. Making that first collegiate bucket seemed to do wonders for her though. She made a corner 3 right after that, and finished with 15.
Turnovers were, as usual, the biggest negative. Also, it seemed all the inbounds plays on the offensive end took forever to develop, and I thought we'd get whistled once or twice.
Jelena looks much better. Still a work in progress, but anticipating and reacting better, and getting off her feet going for rebounds, even on missed free throws. Now that AJ has had the breakout game young players need, we need Greta to do the same, and all our freshmen will be off to the races.
Good effort for a first game. Several of the girls had big smiles on their faces when they came out for warmups, including, once again, Ellie. I think she's really going to savor this year.

I really only saw a little over one quarter, but I thought the Beavs looked much better than they did in the exhibition. It's definitely to have two of you freshman score 19, and 15, knowing the class that is coming in next year to join them. This team is so deep with talent that is fairly equal. If you did miss it, the starters tonight were Taylor, Taya, Ellie, Talia, and Emily. At least once during the game the Beavs did substitute all 5 players at once.
Talia is a scorer. We know that. I think we'll see a number of different players shine in different games. A.J. definitely got her career off to a great start.....her parents were there, so that was great for her. The part of the game I saw, Kennedy really played well, and the box score showed that....except for missing the shot she blocked.
Obviously the competition wasn't great tonight, so it's still a wait and see against tough competition, but this team has the signs of being very good 3 months from now when the youth get experience and everyone gets used to playing with each other.

Mannen looks pretty good tonight. Agreed....Noelle was solid tonight in fact I thought she played just as well or better than Tea backing up TVO.....The whole team played pretty well tonight but we had such a height advantage and talent advantage over LMU that it's hard to figure how good they really are.....and looking at the schedule we may not know if they are really good or not until after the Michigan and Notre Dame games the end of this month. On another note did anyone else find it frustrating watching the live stream during timeouts it would immediately flip to the Beaver Logo for the entire timeout instead of keeping the live stream up so we could see what was going on in the huddle during the timeout, and also multiple times by the time they flipped back to the game after the timeout the inbounds pass had already been made and play was in progress, and then at the end of the game again they immediately flipped to the Beaver Logo screen instead of showing the players and coaches going through the line acknowledging the other team and then acknowledging the fans after the game.....very frustrating....it would be much more interesting watching the timeout huddles and after-game stuff than just looking at the Beaver Logo!

Seems like an odd flip from last season. A year ago the team had a real hard time getting the defense going but did ok with the offense. This year it's the opposite.
Tea- She has an unfortunate habit of playing out of control. When she takes her time she's great. When she starts roaring around she makes silly shots and passes.
AJ- So far, boy was she underrated.
Talia- She's a bit of a gambler. If Rueck had any hair I'd say it was going to be gray by the end of the season.
Jones- Up and down game. Mostly up with her starting to follow up shots instead of just standing around.
Emily- Solid but not spectacular. We will see how she does as the competition gets tougher.
Taya- Saw some fire in her eye's this game. Freshman Taya peeking out instead of the passive Taya we saw last season.
Ellie- At all times a competitor.
Brown- Definitely knocking the rust off. A couple of oopsies on defense but this time she kept her cool after offensive mistakes and came through.
Greta- She shows flashes of greatness but it's still a work in progress. Very solid defender.
Mit- A bit like Jo back a couple of years in that she loses track of where she is in relation to the basket at times. But another solid game defensively.
Mannen- I have to apologize to her. I've been thinking her as sort of the entertainment center for the team. But she plays defense, shoots, moves the ball and passes just fine. And most important for someone coming off the bench, she makes hustle plays that can bring a team together that is having a rough time.
