I think you're a bit wrong on Jelena. A year ago, there was a basketball game going on around her, and she regularly reacted to it just a bit late - as Jo did. What I see so far this year, she's much more in tune with what's going on and is spending less time standing there like a potted plant.
Is it totally there yet? Not by any means, but the improvement is plain to see. Experience, confidence, and continued coaching, and, in a year or two, she could be a load.

At times Mit turns toward the basket and she has misjudged where she is in relation to it. But passing and playing facing the basket Mit is already way beyond what Jo could ever do.

The lowlight of the game for me was the bad passing that resulted in TO's. It seemed like most of it happened in the first half, with improvement in the second half. I wonder if the high frequency of substitutions might have added to the problem. If this had been a Pac-12 team we were playing, we could have been in trouble. The highlight of course was AJ's performance, with 15 points in 17 minutes. Greta looked good out there except for one or two bad passes and generating little offense. Her defense seemed good, which probably accounted for her getting more minutes than AJ (23). In the postgame interview, Scott acknowledged the bad passes, but felt comfortable that those (and other mistakes) will disappear as the season progresses; sure hope he's right! As he said, if we can play 40 minutes like we did in the 3rd quarter, we'll be fine.

So Codding gets her defender going around the screen, then changes direction for the open shot on the pass from KB after the defender has committed. If the defender had gone under the screen, then Codding might have had an open 3-pt attempt. Maybe we should call this a "play" and do it again....

Most defenders would have rather passively just assumed a defensive position to guard the player who received the pass. TVO is going rogue here, violating every principle of civilized and courteous behavior. This also, I'm sure, made the intended recipient of the pass and the player who made the pass feel bad, and in today's woke culture, that is not to be tolerated. TVO needs to learn some manners.... BTW, if anybody has video of her other spectacular steal, I'd love to see it....

Corosdale moving out in an apparent attempt to get open for a 3-point attempt. Her defender takes her eyes off her and she scoots around for an open layup when Adams just happens to have established position where the pass can be effective. Once again, let's call this a "play" and do it again.... If we keep a discerning eye open for these serendipitous opportunities, we could build a virtual repertoire of these "plays"....

We are still a "work in progress" which is to be expected when incorporating and reincorporating so many new faces. This could be a bit like last season when we find ourselves progressing throughout the season, but I think we're starting off in a much better place. My thoughts on a few players:
- Kennedy looked pretty comfortable and had a strong all around game. Her passing and shot blocking were sharp, and she seemed more willing to bang down low than she did in 19-20. She still misses some easy shots sometimes, but for her first game after missing a whole season, I thought she looked pretty good.
- Greta really lets the game come to her. She doesn't force anything, but I'd like to see her be a little more aggressive on the offensive end. She moves quickly on defense. Very fundamental and I think she'll get more comfortable on the offensive end as the season progresses.
- Talia did some really good things, but also struggled with turnovers. At times she picks the ball up too early and at times she forces passes that aren't there. She had some sneaky impressive steals on the defensive end. After watching the Arizona/Louisville game, I'll be interested to see how Talia handles pressure teams like Arizona and UCLA will put on her.
- AJ was impressive. Really solid all around. Does all the little things. She wasn't a great three point shooter in high school, so if she can be consistent from behind the arc that'll be a huge asset for this team.
- Tea had some highlight reel passes. When she plays in control, she's very solid.
I'll be interested to see who is in at the end of tight games.

Was the crowd of 4500 into as much as they could be? Maybe it was the competition or missing a season live. I still think there could be some improvement in the overall experience but as some say the game day experience is what we see on the court and not some of the other stuff around us. That view is fair too.

That view is fair too. Throughout the game it seemed to me that the crowd was quieter than usual. Maybe the masks have something to do with it. Maybe it was just a matter of us having a weak opponent and the crowd having full confidence we would win. I am pretty sure a PAC-12 opponent will revive them.

Check out AJ’s acceleration We are a step or two slow at the point position. They’re wing point positions slowed us down in our half court offense in first half. Tea needs to get ahold of our half court offense because TVO will need help. No wonder ducks recruited all the point guards in the land, that’s one way to take care of there problems. We have some good pieces AJ is impressive. Plays stronger then Sasha did last year. She could start right now because she has speed we need on the court. BOTH GAMES SO FAR have not challenged our bigs. When the match ups are equal we shall as in Michigan Norte dame. PAC 12 in league play almost means anyone could win on a given night. Probably will be some surprises from pac 12 come play offs. Go beavs pray everyone stays healthy!

Nice analogies, especially the idea of " a game was happening and she eventually noticed". I like her unique game and hope to see it flourish, she's pretty atypical for current WBB players, nice to see the variety we can throw at other teams.
