I briefly noted Jayda Curry in the 2021 recruiting thread after an Oregon State coach took a trip down to Corona Centennial HS prior to Curry's junior season. We were already pretty deep in with von Oelhoffen, Kampschroeder, Verhulst, and Wolfenbarger at that point, so not much really came out of it, but she put up some really impressive stats even against strong competition. Cal certainly got a good one.
I've always thought the Utah coach does a nice job grabbing some under the radar talent. She does have a few top-100 kids now, but players like Dru Gylten and Brynna Maxwell have been really good for them. If they can consistently shoot the three well, they'll be much improved from a season ago.

I wasn't aware of Gylten before she got to Utah, but Maxwell led her team to a 4A Championship in Washington. That should've been worth something. Recruiting "experts" missed the boat on her.
Utah has a Fr. forward, Jenna Johnson, who looks promising. Hoopgurlz actually had her rated around #40, but doesn't seem like she got much publicity.

Notre Dame is playing Syracruse right now on the ESPN ACC channel, if you want a preview of the team the Beavers will face near the end of the month.

Dara Mabrey looks so much like her sister Marina it's kinda eerie.

Tied at 25 at the half. Vic Schaefer coached teams aren't much fun to watch. UGLY brand of basketball.

Horrible game so far. Refs taking "letting them play" a bit too far. Tied at 25 each at half time. Stanford struggling without a clear cut point guard. Jones bringing the ball up a lot. Each team has only 2 assists at the half! What the heck?? Stanford having some problems with the defense of the small, quick guards of Texas.

Stanford did not look good today. Texas got hot at the end. I'm calling this one over. Jones isn't a PG, Tara's gotta quit trying to make her into one.

Watching Washington, first chance to see Nancy Mulkey 6'9", she looks like she is in slow motion all the time, I'll enjoy seeing what Taylor and Jelena do against her (& Kennedy), they are all quicker than her.

Yeah, she's less than I hoped for. She blocks some shots, but not much of a post presence on O. She looks a bit awkward and not very smooth.
Dawgs have 60 TOs in 2 games. Nearly squandered 16 and 20 point leads in the 2 games. Pressing isn't Rueck's M.O., but the Dawgs seem to fall apart when they face some pressure. Langley won't be turning things around in the short term. All the PT is going to veterans, some of whom probably just aren't Pac 12 caliber players. The 4 freshmen have seen a total of about 1 minute on the court combined so far.

In contrast to Mulkey, Oregon's 6-8 Fr. Kyei looks nothing like the raw project it seems like she was billed as. Get her the ball on the low block, she knows what to do with it. She looks way smoother than Mulkey.

Brutally ugly, but a big win for UA. Their guards REALLY struggled to make buckets. Pellington and Yeaney can get after you on D but struggle on O. Oregon transfer Taylor Chavez is providing them NOTHING in the 2 games I've watched. Maybe the announcers missed something, I didn't hear anything about an injury. Reese missed almost the entire OT. She wasn't in foul trouble. I read once that Reese has type 1 diabetes. Could that be a reason for her brief departures?

Man, did I understate this "Stanford playing Texas at noon on ESPN, maybe a little competitive?" It was close, but I though Stanford would win , no problem. Is this the first Pac-12 loss so far?
