Back to actual basketball. Stanford blew out ASU (wow the game has really passed CTT by the last couple years), Colorado beat Utah in OT, and UW-WSU currently in OT thanks to pathetic 6-18 FT shooting in regulation by the Dawgs.

UW gives the game away w/ 6-21 FT shooting. Cougs by 4 in OT.

I probably shouldn't keep posting this, but I find it interesting so.... I was going to do the same, glad I'm not the only one that is intrigued, wondering what the heck was going on at MSU. I'm a big fan of Rickea, dreamed we might get her. Nice to see lots of their fans supporting her and her mom. Each year there are mass defections from a school or two in the portal. The Pac-12 has seen much smaller versions, like 3-4 were leaving U of W, but two decided to stay in the end. USC was volatile for awhile. With the current coaches, I expect this year's portal to be mellow for the Pac-12.

This feels like a TV show. You know things had to be bad for Rickea for her to leave in the middle of a season as she was leading the entire SEC in scoring. IMHO, I'm not sure if she made the right move, but it takes major courage to pull off that move mid-season. If Mississippi State really is a 'Darkened place', you can't blame a player for leaving, although some would argue she should have stuck it out to season's end.
I'm real curious what parents, and high school players, who are being recruited by Mississippi State are thinking. I wonder how many coaches will use this against Mississippi State in recruiting. I'm also wondering what their 2022 recruiting class (and their parents) are thinking. If it's me, I'm like "How do I get my daughter out of this?" At the very least, I'm communicating with Rickea's Mom to dig deeper into her side of what is going on.

#5 Rickea Jackson F 6'-2" JR Detroit, MI
Jackson averaged 20.3 points and 6.8 rebounds in 15 games this season for the 11-7 Bulldogs, who have lost three straight....I found this little blurb when googling RJ---quote: "Jackson's mother, Caryn, said in a text message to The Clarion-Ledger, "She just wants out for mental health reasons."
The newspaper also reported, citing sources with knowledge of the situation, that there was tension between several players on the team"

Speaking of MAA and the transfer portal:

In trending trends, Washington St. pulls out another close game @ Colorado and Washington loses another close game @ Utah. Dawgs are still winless in conference, 5 of the 7 have been by 7 points or less. I'm calling this season the "Close But Not Quite" tour.
Buffs are now on a 1-6 stretch after starting 2-0.
I'm getting scared the Pac 12 is gonna screw itself and end up with not very many teams in the Tourney. Stanford, Arizona and Oregon are safe. Washington St. is probably okay. I can't help but think Colorado has played their way out, and both UCLA and Oregon St. look sketchy. I can't see Utah or Arizona St. making it. Would it be insane if only 4 Pac 12 teams made it this year?

Unless something weird happens I'm thinking 4 is it. UCLA is done. Without looking at the rest of their schedule they are playing on borrowed time. Unless OSU wins 3 of the next 5, or 2 with 2 others that were extremely close, I don't think the Beavers are in. Although it's a 68 team field?? Bottom line this team needs to begin playing like it deserves a berth. But, as we all know selections depend alot on upsets in conference tourneys and unexpected auto bids.

Arizona whooped Oregon. Final margin was 15, but they were up by 20 for a good stretch of time.

Wow, Barnes got 15 players into the game. Oregon went 12 deep.
Cal nearly gave away the game, allowing a late 8-0 run, but then answered w/ a 5-0 run to beat USC by 3. First conference win for Cal. USC is 2-7 (9-10 overall). Gottlieb + USC was bound to be a failure. How the hell did they make that hire?
