Found one! I owned a 1980 Chevy Citation. Two-tone brown. Naugahyde interior. V6. Hatchback. Plenty of room. We...the wife and I....LOVED it. Had two young sons at the time. Drove to So Cal more than a couple times in her.

The firing of Rollo has bothered me. Not that I don't think he should be fired but from some other perspective. Anyway, I think I've figured out why Rollo is so wrong. Football is the ultimate team sport. If one guy of 11 does not do his job, the play fails. If the long snapper fails on one punt snap, his team loses around 30 yards instead of gaining around 40 yards. On average that might be 5 points. Rollo is the leader and head coach of the team. In a team, sometimes you have to do something you would prefer not to do for the benefit of the team. When a 180# running back needs to pick up a blitzing 240# linebacker, I know the running back would prefer not to do it. But he does because it is for the team. Rollo didn't want to get the vaccine. I'm guessing because he doesn't want his boss and or his government telling him what to do. But for the team, the ultimate decision is easy. Get the vaccine! He put himself above everyone else. He probably heavily influenced the other four assistents to not get the vaccine also. So the result is - 20 guys lose their jobs (assistents, and support folks that will not be retained by the new coach); a bunch of children of those employees will move, change schools, lose friends; and the players have their coach abandon them and likely will lose out on a positive season. These players get four (and a half) seasons and maybe 45 games in their career. One guy screws them out of 20% of that. And he had June Jones in his ear trying to help him and not let him go way sideways. He had Tucker Carlson or someone similar encouraging him to self-destruct (and take so much down with him). Rollo was put into a position of great responsibility and he imploded. He's no better than Gary Andersen. I hope he does something like get his Class C drivers license and drives a truck for a few years. If I had hiring authority at a low-level Big Sky or NAIA school, there is no way I would touch him. He could have done it for the team in the ultimate team sport, but he put himself first.

This thread has been scrubbed of some suspect scientific/medical info per the policy of our hosting service. If you are wondering where your hot take response went...lets just say there was quite a bit of collateral damage. Other than that bit of stuff, I think we've been able to have a fairly civil exchange of ideas on a super politically charged topic. I'm so proud. I'd rather we "stick to sports" around here, but this one crosses into some very near territory given our close relationship with WSU. All that being said, I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands these days, so the next s%#tshow might just get fully nuked and coupled with indiscriminate banhammers. Stay safe out there.

Well, the field of college athletics is pretty much littered with "retreads". We all know Rolo will get hired again. When? By whom? Who knows, who cares. But, he will as there are admins that think just like him even though they may be smarter and keep quiet.
Simple truth... if GAG gets hired multiple times a guy like Rolo will. Administrative/political types just wait for the news cycle to flip and use whatever "new leaf" scenario to bring in guys like Rolo. Just as guys like Rolo or better yet, Urban "legend in his own mind" Meyer, bring in highly questionable assistants.
He'll be back, somewhere.

This thread was nothing compared to the many train wrecks on the Facebook Pure Orange group for the same topic. I don’t engage there.

He is an odd but seemingly effective coach. Under different circumstances, I would've been enjoying his success and the Dawg's failures. But he chose his battle line and he lost the war, instead of simply doing what was best for his position. Everyone who has ever been a leader knows that it comes with certain obligations, and that means you rarely get to put yourself first.

I don’t engage there. oh man, I'm an occasional lurker there when I hate myself just enough to log on to Facebook. That group is just a mess - but you do get some occasional gems - announcers are out to get us, refs are out to get us, why don't we run more flea flickers? Plus you have people asking things that they could look up via the very same smart phone - when do we play Cal? What time is the game? Who is #16?

I’ll bet he never coaches another down at as a D1 head coach. What university president would allow his AD to even consider him as a possible choice, let alone hire him, after the way he abandoned and tanked his last program? I could be wrong but I don’t think so.

Methinks that the War is only beginning. I have to imagine that there is a lawyer somewhere who is already putting something together for Rolo and the rest of the staff.

Methinks WSU may have even anticipated this and reviewed his contract with lawyers before firing him. Big if true.

Alternatively he may end up spending the rest of whatever money he has socked away on lawyers and end up flat broke. The old term I remember from working in the shipyards is, “Down the road talking to his lunch bucket“
