Odd some LSU fans are 'NO WAY' based on Heimlich..... F King Alexander anybody? It seems like they basically think that F King Alexander is strike one, and Casey would be strike two. I would think that Les Miles would be strike 1.

Why would lsu hire a 60+ year old and then do this all over again in a few years? Unless Casey is going to coach into his 70s. Not exactly sure Nick Saban is 69 and is currently under contract until he is 77. Pat Casey is 62 and could easily give you 7-15 years. Or, he could be done after 3-4 years. Always a crap shoot. I read the LSU board. That Hail State guy hits the nail on the head. After the last 18 months, I might be looking for an excuse to move out of Oregon. One of my cousins just moved out 2-3 months ago. Louisiana and Texas have their nice parts. It is all in what you want. A lot of the Louisiana people keep focusing on the fact that he has no ties. People forget that Pat Casey had an eight-year minor league career as a first baseman. He played ball in Beaumont, Texas, in the Texas League for two seasons and Amarillo, Texas, for another season. That was in the old Texas League, which included annual trips to Arkansas, Memphis and Shreveport. He played another season Salem, Virginia (about two hours southwest of Charlottesville) in the Carolina League and played in Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia.

I personally hope we get Cliff Godwin from ECU... I will lose my mind if we take PC or Mike Bianco

Looking back at Pat Casey's 1984 Texas League stats:
118 G, 115/377 (.305), 64 R, 26 2B, 2 3B, 11 HR, 178 TB, 68 RBI, 7 SB, 8 CS, 77 BB, 60 SO. .422 OBP. .472 SLG. .894 OPS. 2 HBP, 7 SH, 4 SF and 2 IBB.
Tied for eighth in doubles with Jim Steels, who would enjoy a three-year MLB career, including playing for the NL Champion Giants in 1989.
Tied for 17th in home runs with future All-Star Matt Nokes (who caught Jim Abbot's 1993 no-hitter) and Kelvin Moore (who was the A's starting first baseman in the 1981 ALCS).
14th in RBI.
Tied for fourth in walks with Stu Pederson, who was winding down his eight-game MLB career.
11th in BA.
5th in OBP.
19th in SLG.
8th in OPS.
20th in TB.
Tied for 5th in sacrifice bunts with Mark Carreon, who would later enjoy a 10-year MLB career.
Pat Casey would go on to play two years in Calgary and a year for the Portland Beavers.
A fun fact is that the 1987 Beavers were Minnesota's minor league affiliate. The Twins won the Series in 1987, but Ron Gardenhire called the 1987 Beavers the "worst team" that he "ever played on." Gardenhire would go on to be a minor league coach for three years before coaching/managing the Twins (1991-2014), Diamondbacks (2017) and Tigers (2018-2020). He coached third base for the 1991 Twins and was the 2010 AL Manager of the year. Gardenhire was a phenomenal regular season manager but a terrible postseason one, going 6-21 in the postseason. After 2010, the game had largely passed him by.

Matt Nokes could RAKE out of the 4 hole for the Tigers in RBI baseball!

Is PC really the kind of man who would kick his own creation in the Ass. I think this would be a real hit to MC and his new program. Really bad!

If Casey wants to be a head coach again, then WE should hire him, move MC to assistant HC and move forward? Nope. That era has passed and Pat would never do that to Mitch.
