By The Way yal. Social media effects recruiting. If our beavs baseball team is getting roasted across all forms of social media then Ya can kiss good elite baseball recruits good bye! Cuz no one wants to be on a team that gets roasted on social media on the daily throughout the season!
Today AND the future of recruiting revolves 100% around social media.
Team getting roasted on social media = deturrant for recruits
Team not getting roasted and WINNING = attraction of the attention of Elite recruits
Social media is now the way. Social media dictates what’s good and what isn’t.
And social media has dictated that the beavers baseball program is now a raging dumpster fire under Canham.

So nobody online is laughing at our 2-5 football season, but they're all laughing at 32-18 RPI ranked 21 baseball team......makes sense. And, anyone who uses the word "elite" as much as you do must be an uck football fan. They're the only ones that drop that word in every sentence. in baseball and winning THREE World Series in baseball does in fact make a college baseball team, ELITE. Also I’m no pond bird football fan. I’m super passionate die hard beavs fan that doesn’t stand for mediocrity losing bulls%#t in baseball, basketball or football. I expect the beavs to be winners in all three sports!! No excuses for losing for a elite baseball program such as ours! Pat Casey took the team to the World Series 6 times in his 24 seasons. If you count from 2005, it was 6 times in 13 years. Your "mostly every year" math is way off. And we will make the regionals this year.....Having an RPI of 21 is not mediocre. Ask the 270+ teams that are behind us in RPI. |

Also..
Minors and college baseball are two highly different levels!! They don’t compare!!!
College baseball is vastly different from minor league mlb!!
Is like saying middle school baseball is like MLB baseball. They don’t compare at all.
Coaching a minor league farm club is nothing compared to college baseball. It’s a different animal.
Period!!

You do realize that even the great Pat Casey had teams that didn't make the post season? My suggestion to you, as others have already said, is back off the social media some....doesn't matter what people outside the program say.....what matters is MC's ability to attract talent and then develop said talent......I think he can attract, whether or not he can develop remains to be seen. The great thing is, we will get to see it all unfold over the next few seasons......then maybe we will have a clearer picture of who MC is as a college baseball coach. |

If you were able to listen to Mitch or the players, I'm fairly certain none of them would be offering excuses. Sure, we should have beaten Portland like we did the two other times, but we didn't. And you can dwell on that or you can prepare for the next game. I suspect Canham and Co. are doing the latter. You are doing the former. Relax. The year is not over, nor is it lost. |

If young recruits are using it to determine their future, then it's their loss. Twitter is simply a lot of noise. What you might be concerned about is the identity of Beaver Baseball. To me, that's a better indicator of recruiting than some social media. Under Casey, we knew what he valued and his players knew what he valued--namely, hard work and fundamentals. It is still too soon to say what Canham values, and I'm not sure that this team has a clear identity. It's OK. It's part of the process. Give Canham more time. |

My point was that the age of the players are the same and that he relates to that group. Baseball is different in the minors than college, but not to the extent that you stated. The key is in being able to relate successfully with that group. The vast majority will never play in the Majors and SUCCESS is SUCCESS at any level and playing and coaching in the minors is not an easy task. The key for Mitch is learning from his mistakes.

In a nutshell last night's game bothers me. Its not just that the Beavs lost its that they looked inept and didn't compete. they couldn't hit (again) against a mediocre pitcher. They threw the ball around as if they didn't know what they were doing - throwing to second when a guy is rounding third heading home. And then there is the pitching -What was supposed to be a strength - well it isn't.
At this time of the season you should be fully focused and hitting your peak - we seem to be neither.
And in my opinion canham deserves criticism I don't care if this is his first full season - that's why he gets paid the big bucks.
And I didn't read any of that on social media.
