Bottom line: you want stuff open get yer shot. FL schools were open last August, high school and college sports took place. Teachers from Oregon who refused to go back to the classroom vacationed in Orlando having a blast at Disneyworld. FL's entire economy has been open and I'm jealous. Their kids will have a huge advantage developmentally over those form states like OR who were shutout of their schools and activities. The bottom line is actually this: Florida faired no worse than states with extreme curfews and lockdowns like MI or CA with similar population centers. In fact given FL's age demographics, they did better while being entirely wide open. They will also suffer far fewer long term consequence with mental health, alcohol and drug addiction, and financial ruin and depression. That's the ture bottom line. That’s the turd bottom line alright.

Just to add to the politics and follow the science bit, that conservative rag, The New York Times, called the CDC data on the outdoor spread of covid as being total bulls%#t. The Times data says 1% or less compared to the CDC's 10%. We will see how the CDC backs up their science. Very interesting article that I can't link for some reason. I believe the CDC said less than 10%, so technically correct. Candy-ass way to straddle the fence.

Bottom line: you want stuff open get yer shot. While I haven't been on board with some of Browns calls, I am on this one. First, it is actually a somewhat science backed one is that 70% mark is right about where most experts say herd immunity is a factor. Second, it is a necessary carrot as our vaccination rates are starting to lag, and it is a concern. I know people are hesitant, and i am pretty sure I have said this before, maybe even in this thread, but Moderna and Pfizer have both been more thoroughly tested than probably any drug that has ever received any level of FDA approval. I mean that in terms of number of people they tested it on. I am not exaggerating when I say both companies tested their shots on 10x the number of people any other drug ever gets tested on prior to FDA approval. I know people are concerned about long term side effects, and this might not help, but no drug is ever approved for use with long term effects studied or known. not ever. The thing about long term, as the name implies, is it is long term. But sometimes you just gotta have faith. If you have faith humans can build a metal tube that launches you across the country 35,000 ft in the air at 500 mph and you get in that tube, you should trust the scientist making these vaccines. if you trust doctors to stop your heart, cut you open, cut open your heart, bore out some 50 years worth of cheeseburger goo that has accumulated there, re-route some of your pipes, sew you all back up, give your heart a "Fonz on the juke-box" style whack and get you up again... you need to trust the doctors making these shots. please y'all, turn off facebook and stop listening to your conspiracy theory uncle that flunked 9th grade science and get that shot so we can all watch some football in person next year. I love the Fonz line.

Mark Twain dropped out of school after completing the fifth grade. My favorite is Ray Bradbury. Educated in the public library. No one has to go to college to be intelligent. But they do need to turn off the TV/Facebook/Twitter/YouTube and read. And unlike a different generation, people have to realize that what they know is limited. I remember a nice piece by Bill Moyers many years ago in which he looked at how much we do not know and how much trust we put in things in our daily lives. One example that stuck with me is the elevator. We trust it to work. Most of us have no idea how it works or how to repair it if it fails. We just use it. We put our lives in its hands without even thinking. And we do this every day with lots of things. So turn off your TV. Read. Know that people are working their whole lives on these things. And trust the elevator to work. Get your vaccine.

Just think, this whole thread was started by fake news. It was not "fake news," which I consider a deliberate lie, like telling people the election was stolen when it has been demonstrably proven countless times, by multiple entities, that it was not and in fact may have been the fairest and most accurately-counted election in our history. The news was released by the county and then by OSU, who did not completely understand the state's Covid metrics and either overlooked or ignored the 15% increase in hospitalizations clause. OSU's mistake was repeated by the Oregonian; neither the OHA nor the governor ever released any statement moving Benton County to extreme.

I asked, on this message board and of Nick Dashel, for a source and nothing has been offered. No official statement from OSU, just “sources.” So can you provide a link to the aforementioned release from OSU?

Your first paragraph is needlessly provocative drivel and eliminates any credibility that you might have with regards to the second paragraph. The losing side to an election in America always believes that the election is rigged or stolen, always. Hilary Clinton has asserted and continues to assert that the election was "stolen" from her. She said it at the 2020 Democratic National Convention. 2016 The 2016 election was stolen.
2017 The 2016 election was stolen.
2018 The 2016 election was stolen.
2019 The 2016 election was stolen.
2020 The 2016 election was stolen.
2021 The 2020 election was the fairest and most-accurately counted election in history. Your blue-colored glasses are deceiving you, brother. The Supreme Court of Wisconsin has found that the 2020 Wisconsin election, as conducted, was unconstitutional. Georgia set the record for biggest delta ever in a recount. And guess whose votes were overcounted and guess whose voted were undercounted. The manner that Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin ran their elections was unconstitutional. Time magazine ran a gushing 20+ page article in February 2021 describing how Democrats and Never Trumpers "conspired" (Time magazine's word) to "fortify" (read rig) the 2020 election. But, yes, fairest and most accurately counted. Sure. Why not? The 2016 election was the fairest and most accurately counted election in the history of all countries for all time. It also had a pleasant smell. Videos of election night in 2016 can cure diabetes and cancer. And chimps, who watched the results, are able to speak phrases and short sentences. My paragraph above is probably about as demonstrably true as your first paragraph. Fun stuff to watch, if you're bored: Fun article to read, if you're bored: thefederalist.com/2021/02/09/time-magazine-gushingly-profiles-the-successful-conspiracy-to-rig-the-2020-election/Democrats used money from American and European billionaires and tech oligarchs to out-spend, out-hustle and out-maneuver Republicans between 2016 and 2020 and set up the rules of the game to their benefit. That helped them to win the 2020 election. Good on 'em. Now, unless you're going to quit bad-mouthing Republicans' efforts to un-rig the 2022 elections, quit talking up your rigged 2020 election.

Whataboutism king has chimed in. Lol! Well, if I am the Whataboutism King, I would hate to disappoint. Classically, whataboutism, in the Soviet sense, is comparing the results of different political systems in different countries, not different political parties within the same country. "Whataboutism," in that context, is typically called "fairness" or "consistency," your choice. Be fair or consistent, and I do not have a problem. I have a problem, when the Left whines and complains about rigged and stolen elections for four years and then clutches their pearls, when the other side makes the same or similar complaints nine months later. Either it was always BS and is BS now. Or it was legitimate then and legitimate now. Or it is all politics and Skrimshander is a whiner? Again, your choice. Skrimshander pulled out non sequitur nonsense about the 2020 election. That had nothing to do with anything that was talked about previously. Respectfully, pulling out a non sequitur to try and talk up an election that Skrimshander's side won reeks of insecurity. Logically, why do you need to publicly bolster your assertion without attack, if there is no question as to the soundness of your assertion?

There’s no arguing against your wall of text. Just because you type a lot of BS doesn’t make it right or factual. I never whined about the 2016 election, but look who’s here on a sports message board whining about 2020? Your hero was a one term loser. You and the Pillow Guy have fun riling up the loonies for another insurrection.

I miss a guy that would stand up for Israel, that would work to set up an international network to work against the Iranian mullahs, rather than trying to buy them off. The guy is a nutball but makes a great pillow. I wish that Trump had not talked out of his a$$ so much after it was clear that Biden had won. There was a way to spin it to be honest and still defiant. But I wish that Clinton had not talked out of her a$$ so much after it was clear that Trump had won. When you whine and complain ad nauseum for four years, you more or less invite the other side to do the same ad nauseum. You cannot complain about the person you voted against doing it, when the person that you voted for did it last time. Romney was the last losing presidential candidate with any class.
