ERA, means nothing. The guys on base, were on the previous pitcher.
I guess I’m seeing a different game. Everyone is bragging on our pitching staff, as the best in the country, yet, we have no one, who can go more than three innings, and relievers, are not getting the job done. We have given up too many free passes, and hit close to 60 batters. Love my Beaver baseball team, but damn, this is just not right.

You have to give Armie, Donkey and Ober for getting huge game winning Hits. All solid doing what we needed. No way to dodge the fact our Pitching sucked. Sucked bad! Still shaking my head how we managed to drop a game of that importance with a 4 run lead in the btm of 9th. I don't think I have ever seen a Beav team screw one up that bad. Damn........

So, let me get this straight. The coaching had nothing to do with the 4 run lead, but it was all on the coaches for giving up the 4 run lead. That makes sense.
This is why I feel bad for MC taking over for a hall of fame coach. All the wins are because of the players and all the losses are on the coaches. No win situation.

The game should have been decided in 8 Th inning. Should have scored bases loaded 0 outs. Fly all deep enough to score. What was He thinking? I do not blame Casey for heading to third. Almost a triple play.
I was puzzled at Abels inability to throw fast ball for strikes. Mullholland threw 40 pitches and was so so.
I do not know how we can blame coaching for bad decisions of player or two. We better execute better Tonight and Tomorrow. This is critical. After listening to their announcers on Pac 12 I appreciated their insights and knowledge. One guy worked for the Dodgers 16 years. They have seen a lot of baseball.
Very high praises for culture Pat Casey created. I think we need to let these guys coach and be great full for what we had and how we are perceived.

You never run a player off the next base. The runner is right in front of him. |

It would be one thing if last nights game was an aberration. It wasn't. We had meltdowns in three games against the ucks, twice against UCI, and last night. Part of it on coaching (pitching changes, holding up a guy at third) and part of it on the players (not getting a base hit when bases are loaded, hanging a ball right over the plate on a .174 hitter). Looks to me we are better than the bottom half of the league not better than the top half.

Mitch was the third base coach on that fly ball. This is on him!! Casey was doing exactly what he should have, going to third base, because, G should have gone home. This whole game is on Mitch!!😡 Pulling a kid, who is mowing them down, for our supposed, All-American closer, who has not performed well all season. Shave off that beard, and be Mully again. This, and 5-6 other losses are on Mitch. I think he is over his head. So many missed opportunities, just unreal coaching decisions. Spare me the, he knows baseball, because he played. He is making little league mistakes. I can’t believe, Pat endorsed this guy. Yes, I’m upset, our hard earned dollars, that we donate to the program, we expect better. It’s just a game, played by kids, but dog gone it, coaches should be better than that. Nice try. Mitch clearly signaled to hold. It’s Casey’s job to monitor what’s going on at the base ahead of him. Casey made an assumption and he got caught. Mully was absolutely Mully in the 8th. And his beard looks fantastic. Mitch can’t play the game for the boys. Keep the responsibility where it should be…on UCLA for a helluva come back win. |
