What are your thoughts about this Goforth situation and the whole current transfer tidal wave? I do not always agree with your points of view, but I do always find them insightful, and well thought out.

This is a big loss to the program, as others have noted. No other way to spin that. One doesn’t want to see McDonald AA 5* , starter, and all-Pac 12 freshman player leave the program for any reason. I guess one has to take her reasons for leaving at face value. Maybe she thought playing far from home wouldn’t be a big deal, and it turned out, for her, it was. Unfortunate, because I think the college experience of the next 12 months is going to be far different than what we experienced the last year. This was a year to just power through and get in the rear view mirror, for everybody.

Worry about what you can control. She's leaving, so work with what we have left, add another player or two if necessary, and get back to work. The program is bigger than any one player. I get she was probably homesick, missed her family, etc. Freshman year a long, long way from home and family is tough and all the restrictions just made it even tougher. It's too bad she never got to see what OSU WBB really means to the community. Not to sound like a grumpy old man (I'm older, but not grumpy, I'm actually pretty happy and laugh a lot), but "kids these days" on the whole seem more interested in immediate gratification and seem to be much less willing to stick it out and fight through tough situations. The easier (and, to be truthful, sometimes the best) option is to try someplace else. I'll be absolutely shocked if she doesn't pick Arkansas. |

Where ever she lands up at (likely Arkansas)she will make the team she ends up with just that much better.

Maybe her parents couldn't see her because of the BS pac 12 network on DISH that bows to Oregon and only gives the freaking national feed to boot.

Guess she realizes she made a mistake coming out here. No eligibility penalty to leave since this year doesn't count, which makes reversing course easy. |
