I foresee continued lineup changes. Forester and Mcdowell are in. Casey is a K machine. At what point does his name not protect him? Last week. We’ve got other outfielders.

Brutal Friday Night for "ranked" teams, especially teams 15 thru 25 (as per D1 Baseball), which posted a W-L of 2-9.
Weirdest of all tho' was #1 Arkansas losing 16-1 to unranked Alabama (with 10 runs in the 2nd inning).

Just a little slump. Since the first 3 games in Surprise:
Dukart is at.161 Casey is hitting .232 Ober is at.189 Claunch hitting .179
Those are the bats that the Beavers really need to deliver. Not calling players out, but the bats are lost at sea. Nobody is hitting right now.

Not an easy or quick fix - the swings and pitch recognition are horrible to witness ! These guys must have ALL been recruited for their defense because they have zero clue at the plate ! This is going to be one long season - such a disappointment after the cancelled season !

We are not much of scouting problem. Just put a kid on the mound that throws strikes and we take care of the rest. It has been said before there really is not one kid that anyone would fear in our lineup. We truly look like kids when some teams have some real men at the plate. Recruiting?

To be fair, WSU came into Goss pretty hot. Their batting averages were nearly all in the .300 range or higher.
I'd like to see the heart of the order (Ober, Claunch, Casey) sit for a bit. Hell, if they aren't producing, might as well let someone else try.
Also think MC needs to set the expectations higher for the leaders on the team. But I'm not in the dugout, so I don't know what he's dealing with.

SANTA CLARA games couldn't have come at a better time. Canham and staff can use those games to tinker to their hearts content and perhaps get a few more clues on righting the ship before heading north to play UW. UW has a mediocre W-L record. Their OPS is only .637 (but they've allowed a stingy .570 OPS against). By comparison Beavs have a .764 OPS and a .564 OPS 'against'. Problem is that the OSU .764 OPS was fattened early, and has declined ever since. Of course March games in Corvallis or Seattle are very subject to:

Abel's outings are concerning. He struggled against the quacks and Cougs.....free passes, and getting shellacked. Is it just rust? Has he lost his mojo? Him locking down fridays was gonna be one thing we could rely on

I think Abel is not hitting the plate or edges as he did in the past . He is awful close , but missing enough to issue walks and also get behind on counts . Once you are behind on the count , what you throw becomes more limited and the hitter knows that . I don't think that his fastball has ever been overpowering, so his 'out pitch' ends up becoming his 2-2 , 3-2 pitch , and the hitters are able to unload on a slightly better than average fastball ! When I played , the rule of the day was ' make them throw strikes ' So , take every pitch until they throw the first strike . After that first strike , look for something hittable and take it up the middle ! That means, 0-1, etc. , from that point on - get ready to make contact . Kwan was great at that, Ellsbury was a little different because he could hit anything high, low or inside, outside .Eye- hand plus bat speed ! Spoil a close pitch and drill the next ! Also appears that we have too many guys trying to pull the ball - make good contact and go to all fields. I am going to look at our numbers; strikeouts to hits and see where we are at discounting the first 11 games .

Even so, pitchers don't always get things to go their way, even the great pitchers. In Omaha, Luke was only able to go through 3 innings or so. It happens.
