Sort of agree with respect to inducing new fans . Think we need to do a better job with getting students to the games ( expand through financial means and making the event far more fan centric ) Also , need to focus on an overall younger fan base ( it's obvious that the older crowd finds the whole experience to get more and more difficult to 'manage' as they age ! Also, stratify your fan base - based on finances. Those with the right financial situation will attend, donate and pull other fans with them. Give an incentive for delivering each new season ticket . Also , to be honest - the experience needs to change with the times. Some of the big screen stuff is pretty hokey and does not really engage the fans .The 'band' should also start going the Grambling route.i know nothing about what that will take , but ... consider and embrace change ! I still like the 5th Quarter program, where fans stick around for a live post game with Parker ( 50 yard line or Beaver end zone ), with video highlights and Beaver/ coach interviews ! Could even have a pre- game , ESPN GAMEDAY like experience ! Make it a full time experience and manage traffic in and out with these tools ! Not saying I disagree with you Shelby, but what do other schools do during the game that we aren't doing? I read complaints on here about the gameday experience from time to time. What should we change to better engage the fans? I honestly don't know and admittedly don't pay attention to who is getting it right...

Adding SEATS for future needs (IF needed) looks possible, and is a bridge OSU may have to cross in the future. Right NOW, this looks great! Loud and intimate will (hopefully) be the result. Game day experience? That’s another story. I am “one of the old farts” that just wants to watch the BEAVS compete hard on the grid iron. THAT’s my game day experience. I DO understand those that expect more. I can’t help but think the Truax facility “experience” could be much improved. It’s pretty dead, and ..... gulp.... purely profit driven. Ridiculously priced beers ..... MOST, not local. Mediocre eats at four star dining prices. Good lord. I’ve been there a few times (unimpressed), but most of what I stated were from talks I’ve had with other fans. As for me, I’m just happy the west side and other improvements are FINALLY getting done. Fiscally responsibly, too. Go Beavs!!

Will that be sufficient to rename it? Not very fond of Reser. Reminds me of cheap potato salad. Why settle for cheap potato salad when you can have Solid Potato Salad? I salute you, sir! Where did you find this? How long has it been sitting in the back of your brain waiting for this day? Well played!

Then simply remove the Reser ads from the field. Easy-peasy. Let it really be named for the people and not the brand. I never saw Parker in script on the field. "Parker" was not on the field. It was on the press box, clearly shown in the new stadium video. The company is named Reser Fine Foods. There is no ad for Reser Fine Foods on the field, just as is there are no ads for the company on the outside of the stadium. In either case, why would we even consider removing the Reser family name from either location, no matter how it is presented graphically? The family has been an incredible asset to the university, both academically and athletically. I started this side topic mostly tongue-in-cheek. When I came back to Oregon from Japan, the stadium had been renamed and the only image that popped into my head was mediocre potato salad. I suppose for probably 70% of Beaver fans, it’s the same image, especially among the students who don’t know the Reser family and what they have done for the university. I see that I touched a lot of nerves with even broaching the topic. That’s actually great! To see the support for the Reser family and how quickly you all leapt to defend the name is wonderful. Thanks!

To increase the food choices why aren't food carts/trucks allowed under the east side and in the north end zone. More choice, and faster. Waiting in some lines for the whole halftime is ridiculous.

They should serve only Reser's fine food products. Irimi could have his choice of potato salad, Hot Mama's, and Nemo's carrot cake!

Well played! I remembered it from an old Pure Orange posting. Not sure if it was a Beavermobile find or one of the other characters on the board, but now every time I hear "potato salad" this comes to mind.

In addition I hope the to be renovated west side increases the bathroom capabilities. The east side capabilities are lacking. To have lines with a 30k attendance is not a good thing.

Some back of the envelope math. If the current west side holds approximately 15k within about 80-85 rows. The new drawings appear to have about 48 rows spread across 4 levels (14 rows in lower level, 7 in Loge, 12 in upper deck, 15 in highest deck) give or take a few rows. That includes the loge area, which isn't full rows across the length of the field due to the loge boxes. The two middle decks appear to extend further out on the ends than the current west side grandstand, so probably pick up several hundred seats there that are lost in the loge rows that aren't individual seats. By hand counting, it looks like the lower level has 9 sections of about 300 seats each, for 2,700 in that section.
So 48 total rows instead of 80 is 60% of current west side capacity = about 9,000 seats. That's a reduction of about 6,000 seats, putting capacity at around 37k when done. Maybe less depending on what the loge section actually holds and how much larger the individual seats are than a bench seat.
Disclaimer: The new rows will likely hold less people than before to allow for wider seats, more legroom, and be ADA compliant and throwing these estimates off by a few hundred or so.
Interesting to note, the initial drawings in the deck from the meeting with the faculty show wings built out on the highest level/deck of about 10 rows, matching the wings on the deck below. When the drawings were released for the press conference, those wings were gone on the highest level and appear as a concourse with some tents, and the extended wings are only included in the deck below the highest level and the loge level. Those upper deck wings likely would have added around 750 more seats, but must not pencil out financially to include them now, but maybe in a later phase.

I saw some Mike Hass in that video package. Must have missed Robb Thomas. Mike Hass scored two (2) touchdowns in his six (6) games at Reser in 2004 (Hass' redshirt junior year). You saw one of them. Robb Thomas scored eight (8) touchdowns in his five (5) games at Parker in 1987 (Thomas' true junior year). You saw none of them. In his career, Hass had 9 touchdowns in his 18 games at Reser. Thomas had 12 in his 13 games as a receiver at Parker and Kragthorpe only started Thomas in nine of those games. What I learned from watching the video is that Oregon State discontinued football in 1967 and did not start up the program again until 1998. A lot of fans seem to be of an identical mindset. I will continue to talk up the achievements of the quasi-mythical 1968-1997 squads.

I know restrooms,Concessions, and a better concourse area are all part of this project. I think the West side holds 17k fans.

I don't know much about the 1987 team (they were imaginary as you say), but I don't know that they had a NFL caliber TE like Joe Newton hoovering up red zone opportunities either.

Phil Ross was a very good TE on those teams.
