Really hard to make much sense out of this game. But most of the things that jump out at me are not encouraging.
The team today showed very little team-speed. Neither on defense or offense. I wouldn't say they were slow - but certainly not fast.
The team did not show much that was impressive on the defensive side of the ball - they had real trouble shutting down the perimeter...The girl who nailed all the 3s was not going thru great gyrations to get open...On a few shots she was covered, but mainly she had daylight throughout the game without having work hard to get it.
Rueck chose to break the press mainly with Goodman dribbling, which is not a happy sight for those of us who were thinking the press would get broken by crisp passing from the forwards....Corosdale moved like she was wearing ankle weights. So did Mitrovic.
I didn't listen to Rueck's comments after the game - but it will be interesting to see what he thinks the "positives" were in this one.
Well, at least we're not looking at UA & ASU coming to town this weekend.....Colorado and Utah should give this team a bit more time to find itself. But when they do find themselves, I sure hope they are a lot faster than they looked today!!🏀 GO BEAVS!!

I thought the game was a great pre-season test. I'm unsure if the high 3 point percentage shooting by the Lady Don's was all tied to poor defense? We definitely tightened up the second half with adjustments.
The second half comeback by the Beav's was encouraging. As bad as they looked at times in the first half, they really shut USF down in the third quarter.
Sasha Goforth looks like a star in the making. Really aggressive offensively and played pretty solid defense in spite of getting herself in early foul trouble. We need her to stay on the floor. She appears to have no problem creating her own shot and demonstrates confidence and basketball IQ well beyond her age.
Taylor and Jas had good games. Jas really gave us a spark off the bench.
We do not look prepared to start PAC-12 play, but all teams are in the same boat. The team we played today was not a cupcake, which was probably what this team needed. We are no longer the hunter, we are the hunted. Teams will often give us their best game.
Go Beavs!

Better get better in a hurry or it will be a long year. That being said, Goforth is legit, Goodman is still not a PAC 12 PG, Jazz looks better and Mitrovich hopefully doesn’t have to play more than 10-15 min a game. Jones looked good also

He'll probably think that winning was a positive.

He'll probably think that winning was a positive. Think how loud everyone would be screaming if we lost the game!
Krimili for USF is shooting 3's at a .722 percent clip for the season! Yikes. We actually lowered her percentage slightly lol!

We're a very, very poor free throw shooting team, and that will bite us in the ass going forward. I was unimpressed with our perimeter defense; that needs a lot of work. Goodman is playing too many minutes, but Faustino hasn't shown anything to earn more minutes for herself.
Goforth is very impressive thus far, but she looks like she's about 12 years old, doesn't she?

As far at FTs, it's likely that'll even out in the long run.

Judge math must not be your thing. 9 > 7. We have no idea how good UC Davis is they have played exactly one game.

Cal Davis is 55-9 in their last 64 conference games. Their coach had won the conference coach of the year 4 years in a row. So that encouraged me a little bit. Not a ton, but a little lol

I was most pleased with Goforth - but, hope she can handle the physical beatdowns and not get injured. Jones was excellent - seems to be working on her shot to match and exceed last year. Jasmine was amazing , both on offense and in rebounds. She picked up a lot from Mikayla. Kinda disappointed with Aleah , but off games are to be expected. Taya did well and is a little more tentative because of her injury last year - I think ? Samantha played well in a couple of small spurts - but looks like she will improve rapidly . I agree with everyone regarding the perimeter defense, Pretty much non existent in the first half . A little better in the second half with Sasha and Jazz doubling up , at times .

Free throws were 57.7% in first game and 64.9% today. Sure hope you're right.

Aleah is a natural 2. Her scoring could take a hit over at point because shooting takes rhythm. SF DID a good job for part of game bottling Aleah outside before she could set up the offense. Must have been their game plan because everybody was saying we have 12 3 point shooters and Taylor is a good go to person. So much pressure last year was given to Inescou at point Oregon had other people take the ball up for her at times who were faster.maybe we could do that with Jasmine. Inescou was such a talented half court player she often started the offense from the wing spot I was really excited to see Taya to play for her defense but surprised today, also. I still think Rueck knows how to figure out defenses.he went to Savanna early cuz of this speed wise. Taylor we need her offense but the WSU GIRLS DEFENSIVE skills. wonder how this will all work out. Coach em up Rueck. Go Beavs
