I can see Jelena playing high post and Taylor playing low post against a zone. I can also see them together on the floor not being a huge defensive issue against some teams, especially if we run zone D.
But both those teams feel very matchup-specific, and that doesn't seem Rueck's MO... he seems to really prefer a lineup he believes in regardless of the opposition, and I just can't see that combo working well against a lot of Pac-12 opponents.

Wouldn't it make more sense for Taylor to play the high post? Didn't Marie play there at times? Taylor has the mobility to move low quickly when needed, whereas Jelena could plant herself closer to the basket and not have to be chasing all the time. But based on video of Jelena, she's a great passer and if you want that quality at the high post....

We have a lot of lineup options so it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. From what I have heard about practices so far, we can expect Jelena will get significant playing time. Is that 20 minutes a game? I don't know. But I expect to see her out there quite a bit. I can see us playing big at times with three out of Taylor, Jelena, Ellie, Taya, and Jovana on the floor at the same time. Aleah, Jasmine, and Sasha taking most of the guards playing time although I'm not counting out Savannah, Teresa, and Noelle from getting playing time. Savannah is athletic, Teresa is an excellent ball handler from what I hear about practices so far, and Noelle can definitely shoot.
Sometimes 3 bigs and sometimes 3 guards. I think it will be a mix. I look forward to finding out!

I saw that 2001 and wondered what it stood for myself, that game was 2016, but yeah, still old video, thanks for finding it Thickhead, and 4 years later... I'd love to see her play now. Do you feel sorry for Sweden !

Well, there's 120 minutes of playing time at the 3, 4, and 5 spots. With Trish gone, Kennedy injured, and Andrea confined to Neverland, those minutes get divvied up among Taya, Taylor, Jelena, Jovana, and Ellie (did I miss anybody?) Barring foul trouble, I'd look for Taylor and Taya to claim about 60 of them, leaving 60 for the other 3. One of those 3 will be the other starter (my guess, Ellie) and lay claim to 25, leaving 35 for Jovana and Jelena. That's a pretty fair number for each and all. This assumes, of course, that Scott will opt to play big the whole game, and that's a big assumption. But let's bear in mind that Jelena is a redshirt freshman who has never played a minute of D1 ball. Her development might be nowhere near as rapid as many on this board seem to think it will be. Scott will bring her along at her own pace. We got lucky last year that Taylor took to playing D! post like a duck (sorry, like a fish) to water. It is perhaps not realistic to expect that to happen 2 years in a row. What about Aquino? Will we see her at all?

Here ya go... .5334 meters and since we are talking about practice. que Alan Iverson (I won't link it. It's for your own good)

As far as the Taylor low post Jelena high post comments, Taylor is great around the basket, not yet a great passer, and working on expanding her shooting range. Jelena is not great around the basket yet, can shoot from the outside, has great court awareness, and can pass well. Taylor in the low post, and Jelena at high post sounds logical. Let's see how that play out. I've also heard that Teresa is an excellent ball handler/floor general. I'm guessing that is why the Beavs sought to add her to the team for this season. My guess is Teresa will spell Aleah as needed, and will do well at guiding the team when she is on the floor.

What about Aquino? Will we see her at all? I thought something slipped out in an article that confirmed she has a heart condition. This isn't an authoritative answer, but I think it's most likely we'll never see Aquino take the floor.

From the European footage, it looked to me like she has good moves around the basket and does pretty well.

Have to agree with those that think Taylor and Jelena will be on the floor at the same time for the reasons that were stated.

From the European footage, it looked to me like she has good moves around the basket and does pretty well. Just to clarify, I said 'not great', I didn't mean to apply that she's not good. Actually, from her videos, for someone who looks a bit slow overall, she has a little bit of quickness around the basket. The 'not great' statement came some from her shooting percentage, some from her points per game, and some from video of her. You can tell she missed a lot of those shots, when you would expect she would dominate with her size. I'm far from an expert, but I think she needs to work on her inside shooting, just as Taylor needs to work on expanding her shooting range. We'll find out soon. You guys are getting me pretty excited about someone that I thought may not be ready yet. It's going to be exciting to watch her develop.

This video almost had me doubting my last evaluation of her as well. That was till I realized that this was a very old clip of her. The clip that was posted before last season was more recent and she looked much improved. She showed a lot of moves under the basket. She also showed much better defensive range. She appeared to show both quickness in her feet and hands. Quickness is more important in basketball than speed. She was also a goode passer and would not always put up a shot but rather kick it back out to open shooters. This is something the team has missed once Gulish left. The only problem I saw was her ability to run the floor, but the word is that she has improved in that area.
I frankly do not know how the min. will be distributed this coming season or how often both will share the floor at the same time. I am not even going to speculate on that. I will say that by next season it is highly likely they will. I remember Taylor saying she wanted to play the PF position. That makes sense because the role of the pure center is slowly following the trend of the NBA where the true center no longer exists. Smarter players want to get experience in college playing the positions they will have the best shot at in the Pro's. I can see Taylor gradually moving her game farther away from the basket season by season. With Jelena on the team she will be allowed to do that. Taylor is very similar to Cox and PF is her position although she can play the post in a pinch.
Some of you might ask " Is "Taylor Swift" enough to play the PF position"? I would say yes. (Pun intended). In fact I believe the can be an even better tandem than Brown and Cox were for Baylor. I can see Oregon st being totally dominate on the inside. That coupled with a return to a ball movement offense and kick outs from the posts to the shooters should make this team a nightmare to defend. Oregon St. still has plenty of high percentage 3pt shooters on the team. Good outside shooters and strong post play compliment each other because it spreads the floor making it harder to defend posts and the outside shooters. Doubling the posts will always leave a shooter open and I suspect a lot of teams will be forced to double the posts. Jelena appears to be a good passer who sees the floor.Kennedy has already shown herself to be that as well. Taylor can be once she gets rid of the pattern she picked up in high school. That mind set seems to be common for high school players who carried their teams on offense. Kennedy played on a much more balanced team and it show by her looking to pass before scoring. Thats the biggest adjustment high school players who were the stars on their respective teams need to make. Euro players are conditioned early one to pass and create ball movement and that can be seen in Jelenas game. When doubled you can kick it back out and reset your self.
