After my initial reaction of "whoa, that's a amazing amount of smoke," I laughed that the two Oregon locations called out by name are Portland the Fort Rock. For Nevada, it's Vegas and Duckwater. Now, I'll try to find Duckwater on another map.

Now, I'll try to find Duckwater on another map. Fort Rock is beautiful. I have driven by it several times. I think that 2007 was the last time. Fun fact. Before the 2002 discovery of the Paisely Caves, the Fort Rock area was the site of the oldest Native American artifacts in the State.

You want to see a pair of the sandals, go to the High Desert Museum south of Bend. The whole place is well worth the admission and a few hours of your time.

I took about 60 trips from Portland to Lakeview from 2001 to 2006. About half were Horizon flights to Klamath and half driving on Oregon 31. On one of the drives I went to Fort Rock and the park there. I think there were several hiking trails but ive never been back.

It was supposed to open in April, but it is delayed by COVID.
