Oh ok, just seemed interesting that your statistics matched exactly with what bobbk has posted on the CardBoard. Where do you think Furd, or uck, or OSU folks get such lists? If you are deep into recruiting, I'm not except when bored, they all look at the same basic places. There are folks on this board who know a TON more than me about who is leaning where and who is likely to sign because... As I've stated on the football board... really do not care about recruits until the LOI and they are Beavers. "There are (many) folks who know a TON more than me.". There, fixed it for you.

Anyone know the official rules of the portal? Players go thru the NCAA? Their AD? If entered can they return to their own school if eligible to do so/school wants them back? Does entering mean a school doesn't have to take them back? I believe that once a player notifies the AD's office that he/she wants to be placed in the portal, the school has two business days to comply by notifying the NCAA. Yes. A player entering the portal can opt to return to his/her prior program if that program wants him/her back. That scenario happened with a South Carolina starter this past season. That player will likely be selected in the WNBA Draft on April 17.

Looks like Holly Winterburn has thrown her hat in the ring. Good fit for us?

Question for you: would you rather have a coach that stays with the players on the roster or have a coach that "encourages" a player to leave so he could add a more talented player?

Generally if You are improving roster the player will leave to get more pt. I do not see that we can act holier than thou and also hope for transfers. If we have people that cannot help us it is better for them to transfer. I do not see the iissue. We got a player from Maryland I believe. Worked out for us.

To get that player from Maryland who was let go to make room?

I would rate her the least valuable of the Oregon guards..With their exceptional in-coming talent she likely saw her floor time dwindling away. The guard on their current roster that would most help the Beavs, in my opinion, is the Aussie, Jaz Shelly. I like everything I've seen from her.... GO BEAVS !!

With FIFTEEN scholarships available, it should never be necessary to run a player off to make room. Rueck usually keeps about 12 on the roster and has always had a schollie available for a late commitment (like Jelena). I don't think that's unusual.
But I don't think that Graves ran anyone off his roster, per se. I just think his personality doesn't wear all that well, and when things aren't going well for a player he doesn't give them much reason to stay. On the bench he often crosses the line from being constructively critical to being insulting. I don't know what he's like in practice, but my bet is he's worse. If you are an all-star, you'll never take the brunt of that, but it has to be pretty deflating for a player who is struggling.

You worry when players who see ample playing time leave. You expect players who aren't able to push for minutes to leave - if they are a competitor, they want to be on the court during their years of eligibility. That said, it's a major upheaval to leave teammates you are close to and jump into a lot of unknowns at other programs ... that's why I suspect OSU has kept players around even when they've seen little PT. I also agree that it shouldn't be a problem that some choose to stay given the 15 scholarship limit, particularly since Rueck doesn't minimize his available scholarships.

I stayed in line waiting to get into the Civil War with a woman who played for Graves at Saint Mary's and her mother. They had duck gear on and said they follow him no matter what college. They gushed over him and how he treated all his players. Only first hand knowledge I have to reference.

Seems like there is no deadline in Spring at least, as I believe Warren Washington announced at the end of April last year.

I just think they have to sit two full fall and spring semesters. Even if a player transfers in August, they’ll be eligible the same time as someone who transferred in March, as long as they’re enrolled in the fall semester.
