Just out of curiosity, when is the last time Gill had a big name concert? Why play in an old arena, that's not made for concerts when there's one 45 minutes south that's state of the art and built for it?

1. Cameron Indoor is far from a dump. Only someone who has never been there would say that.
2. Gill is a good venue for Pac-12 basketball. I don't want an antiseptic mini-NBA style arena. From others, I believe our practice facilities and locker room are very good.
3. Gill is not good for concerts. During my time at OSU, I saw Bill Cosby, the Tubes, Asia, Howard Jones, Alabama and I'm probably forgetting one or two. Also, per my Mom, Vice president Nixon spoke there in she thinks '54.

During my time at OSU, I saw Bill Cosby, the Tubes, Asia, Howard Jones, Alabama and I'm probably forgetting one or two. Also, per my Mom, Vice president Nixon spoke there in she thinks '54. 1. Cameron Indoor is old and small and has the feeling of an over-sized high school gymnasium. It has terrible concessions and worse bathrooms, and the whole place has a weird smell that is hard to place.
That said, the sight-lines are good, and the stadium is much louder than its size. The Cameron Crazies really make it, though. I imagine it to be just awful, if Duke got the same turnout for basketball that Oregon State got. Contrariwise, Gill Coliseum wins hands down, if Oregon State fans showed up in the same numbers and mindset as Duke fans.
Ultimately, Cameron and Gill are both dumps compared to Allen Fieldhouse, which was one of my primary two points. The other point that I was trying to get across was that Duke is not a great basketball school because of Cameron, and Oregon State is not a bad basketball school because of Gill. Duke is a great basketball school, because Duke basketball generates $31 million/yr., and Oregon State is lucky, if it generates a 20th of that. Duke then takes that money and reinvests it back into secondary basketball facilities, and Oregon State simply lacks that luxury. That was what I was trying to get across. 3. Vice-President Nixon spoke at Gill in 1954 in the lead-up to the 1954 midterms and in 1968 in the lead-up to the 1968 Oregon Republican Primary. In 1968, Nixon hilariously missed the Highway 34 exit and "had to drive halfway to Eugene," before he could turn around, arriving 45 minutes late for the election stop. He beat Reagan by more than 40 points in the Oregon primary.

Scott Barnes Email : k.bjornstad@oregonstate.edu We had enough with WT. He is destroying basketball program and is getting worse unless we need to do something. Let’s shoot email to AD Barnes about our feeling. After the win last night I am contacting Mr Barnes to see about a contract extension. Obviously we are moving towards a better future.

Just 1 comment, not necessarily in response to any post in this thread.... Watching some of the game last night I was amazed by the crowd. We have almost an embarrassment of riches compared to Stanford when it comes to attendance. I had to look up attendance stats and it’s the same with Cal and WSU..... It could be much worse here than it is, heck , we’re still drawing more than Robinson did at his end I believe.

The Doors and Grateful Dead played there once upon a time, lol...... Steve Miller Band and Grateful Dead on same night in fact. Those were the days...... Here's a piece of interesting trivia.....the night of the game in 1967 where we beat OJ Simpson and USC 3-0, Jim Morrison and The Doors were in town...they played Gill that night.
