Ahhh yes, the invincible Ducks. The play of Louisville's post Kylee Shook was outstanding. Good tape for the Beavers to study before playing the Ducks.

No. 8 Louisville does what even Team USA could not in women's basketball, handing No. 1 Oregon its first loss of the season 72-62 in the Paradise Jam. Senior Kylee Shook with maybe the game of her career, 18 points and 15 rebounds while also spending time guarding Sabrina Ionescu. But this was a total team win, the Cardinals able to throw so much speed and size at Oregon defensively to erase an early double-digit deficit. Ducks shoot 6-of-34 from 3 against that D. www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2019/11/no-1-oregon-ducks-womens-basketball-vs-no-8-louisville-at-paradise-jam-live-updates.htmlThe top-ranked Oregon Ducks saw their momentum disappear in the second quarter and never fully recovered, falling to the No. 8 Louisville Cardinals 72-62 on Saturday at the Paradise Jam women’s basketball tournament in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The Ducks (6-1) led 24-13 after the first quarter, but then the Cardinals (8-0) flipped things in the second quarter, outscoring Oregon 24-8 to take a 37-32 halftime lead. Louisville held its lead throughout the second half, holding the Ducks to 34.7 percent shooting for the game and 6 of 34 on three-pointers (17.6 percent). (I live for schadenfreude.)

Shook would be a very good player for Kennedy to model her game after. Shook is really mobile and long, defends multiple positions really well, and can go back to the basket, face-up in the midrange, or knock down a three. She was really impressive.

Louisville wins 72-62 over the ducks. Good. Hope our coaches were taking notes. I don’t care about *u k losses affecting conference RPI. I just do not want them playing in the Portland regional.

Baylor needs Lauren Cox back badly. Always so proud of how well Gulich and Taya played Cox and Brown.

If Stanford beats Miss. State....? Or what if Miss. State beats Stanford ? (game starts in 15 minutes on flohoops.com) That would mean #1, #2 and #3 lose all on the same day. Surely it would mean the Beavers move up.

I REALLLLY hope Rueck strongly considers running what Louisville did today on defense. I didn't see the game, but ESPN wrote about it here: www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28196109/top-ranked-oregon-trouble-paradise-loses-no-8-louisvilleI'm guessing it the type of 1-3-1 that Robinson ran at OSU that was so effective with the right personnel. I have to believe OSU has the length to run it. Imagine Mic or Simmons at the top of that zone, Kennedy in the middle, Jones at the bottom, and Destiny/Goodman/Tudor on the wings. We've been running more zone in general (turned a few games for already, including today), but this zone is one that really needs the right personnel to be deadly. I'm not sure OSU has it, but sure would like to see Rueck try it.

I could see Taya in the middle, but Mic (or anybody else) seems undersized there...

Obviously, what Louisville did worked very well. Held the ducks to less than 35% shooting and 62 points. It's worth mentioning though that Oregon State held the ducks to 62 points last year, and 35.8% shooting. Everyone can learn from this game, but I think SR knows what he is doing as well.

Really interested in seeing what the polls look like this week. Obviously number 1 and 2 both lost this week, and the team (South Carolina) that beat number 2 Baylor, lost earlier in the week to Indiana. If Mississippi State ranked 8/10 beats Stanford, I'm guessing UConn gets number one, and Mississippi State jumps into the top 5, along with Lousiville. Would either Mississippi State or Louisville get nubmer one? If Stanford wins, they should get number one. How far will Oregon and Baylor (and Stanford if they lose) fall?
The Beavs win against #19 Miami is helpful, but I don't really think Miami is a top 20 team, and after two losses this week, probably won't be ranked.
