Yes she did. Lost the elbow sleeve on the left arm and gained the wrist wrap.

I've said it from the beginning, Goodman will be the greatest basketball player of all time at OSU. Men or women.

Deja vu. Same problem Rueck's teams always seem to have. When the other team is more athletic, their defense smothers our guards. They play so close that our players can't even pass the ball, much less get off a decent shot. Compare our players and our plays to Stanford where their players are all highly mobile and are able to get a back door cut and pass for a layin once in a while, even against TUSA, as Stanford did on Saturday. Rueck has one scheme, and one scheme only: Get open for the 3 or lob it into a big. Well, when the defense plays this close, standing around on the perimeter like that looks pretty weak. This is not unique to playing TUSA. If your recall our past losses in the playoffs, you'll realize we've seen this before. Tudor might have helped in this situation because of her quick release, and Mitrovic might have been able to catch a few open lobs due to her height that were not available to Jones, so we'll get better when we have our 3 injured players back.

Considering no Kat, no Taya, that was a great effort and result. I left the game tonight with massively high expectations of this team. When Kat & Taya rejoin OSU WBB Team this season, we add back a post that is a great passer, will have more open looks where she has time to set her feet. When Kat returns, all things improve, assuming Kat gets back her confidence and her lateral quickness.

What's the story on Taya? Hamstrings are difficult injuries to heal. She plan on playing this weekend?

IMO, the outcome of the game is exactly what you wanted. The worst thing would have been for TUSA to play terrible and have the team think they’ve arrived already, which was somewhat how the Stanford game played out.
Our frosh learned they can hang until physically superior athletes (including just conditioning) wear them down so that they are gassed and have no legs to even shoot free throws. They also learned that there are post moves that are virtually unstoppable when you have size and great footwork. That is a great lesson to learn early in your season/career.
Pivec learned that what often gets her in trouble will really eat her up in the WNBA - when she goes to the basket, she needs to have a plan before she gets there - not pick the ball up and figure it out surrounded by bigs.
I really like how much Aleah has improved her handles - I thought she’d get eaten alive with the dribble, and she held her own. I think Scott mixed up the PG role because it’s exhausting to try and initiate an offense against that level of defense. The confidence she played with was outstanding.
I liked that Destiny played really aggressive, going to the rim and finding shots off the dribble. She didn’t shoot well because she forced shots - but often she had to or it was a shot clock violation. We need her to do that at times - Pivec often assumes that role of the 1:1 play when the offense isn’t working, but I’d really prefer that be Destiny.
Watching Maddie out there, who is a good Pac-12 player, was what I honestly expected we’d see a lot more of with everybody - just not in the same league as TUSA and completely overwhelmed.
The fact that TUSA had to turn up the intensity to pull away was great to see, and a great preview of what they’ll have to weather in conference play.
It was weird to see the team hanging with TUSA with a solid 7 rotation before the skill level really noticeably dropped off, and then the camera scan the bench and have Kat, Jalena and Andrea on the bench... if they were all available, we could send in a 2nd line like TUSA does ... it’s a pretty ridiculous amount of talent on this team. Yes, the top NCAA teams also have this kind of depth also, it just hasn’t ever been OSU’s situation in my memory.

What did we learn from this game? Well, Team USA is really good, but that doesn't do us much good other than mentally allowing us to imagine them on the podium at the 2020 Olympics......so I will confine my comments to us.
Our bigs are good, but against other really good/dominant bigs, it shows that they are either a work in progress (Trish) or young (Taylor) or still in street clothes (Jalena). Our bigs will be an asset, but they need outside threats in order to have room to operate.
Our outside shot needs to get more consistent for our scheme to work - our outside shooting essentially went 16-48ish, with no "shining star" among our double-digit shot takers. Again, this is against world-class defense, but the lesson here is still instructive. As the season progresses, we need to understand where our "sure shot" is coming from (good news is we have options here - Mik? Aleah? Destiny?). Kat returning would really help here.
FTs need to improve - I think this issue is directly related to the wrap on Taylor's hand. 9-19 will lose you a lot of games, but most of the misses can be attributed to our fouled bigs going 0-fer. I will defer worrying about our bigs ability to execute at the line until more of a trend emerges.
Rebounding - our bigs were getting blocked out, or were not on the side of the rim when shots went long......I think as our bigs get more used to playing with our guards, they will anticipate where misses are going better (and we were going against some really physical presences in the post)
Entry passing needs to improve - Taya on the bench, guards smothered.
I think we will trounce UC-I incidentally, and we have until the New Year until we encounter a team approaching this level of talent, but these are my current areas of concern.
Go Beavers!

USA bigs were also so much larger than ours, that it was really, really hard for ours to get any kind of solid positioning where we could give them a solid post entry pass.
Jelena is pretty large, so she may have been a solid option if she was an option.

Jelena is pretty large, so she may have been a solid option if she was an option. Agree - on one end, their bigs were setting up (especially as the game went on) where they could look up and see the rim (i.e. very deep positioning), and on the other end, we were not setting up well to receive an entry pass, they had the size where "over the top" was a tenuous option, and their guards were quick, smothering and had hands in the passing lanes as well. Good learning experience. Go Beavers!

Back from watching the game and I must have missed something? Tell me how tonight's play extrapolates Destiny to belonging, fitting in well (whatever was said) in the WNBA and/or having a great season? I do think she'll improve upon last season vs college guards, but as far as the WNBA? She was physically dominated by the big guards and not as quick as the quick guards and went 4-14, 5 assists, 4 tos. And she'll face that every game in that league. Scary how good that USA team will be with all their healthy players back and after some more games together. The second college tour might be the one you don't want to be part of! Yeah, I seemed to see something different than several other posters did. I thought Slocum struggled as much as Pivec did in this match up.
