I'm told that elite players are turned off by Scott's offense. But she didn't mention how she'll fit into the *defense*, so Scott has some concerns.
When I was a student, way too long ago, the first sentence here would have triggered an automatic drug test. I guess Risser and Ray did alright by the engineering program. Does anyone at Nike know that they are aiding and abetting our recruiting? Probably - I'm told Nike has far more OSU grads on staff than UO grads. They only need so many baristas in the cafeteria, after all.
But this is the best quote. It sounds good to me, but Scott reads this and thinks, "Almost? We're not done if she can only say 'almost'."

I guess a lot would depend on what was deemed as needed to be successful in life. For example, back in the Barry Switzer days, it was deemed necessary that each football recruit be given exclusive rights to a convenienc store that only he was allowed to rob.

Watched some of Greta’s HS games over the past week, and she reminds me a good bit of Mik. This was what I saw:
- She has about two-three inches on Mik, but she appears pretty strong for a HS junior. Definitely much more filled out than Savannah and Sasha. She hustles all over the floor, and consistently gives her best effort. Has solid quickness, and great feet on defense. - Has a similar offensive skill set to Mik. Not as developed as a driver, but a better three point shooter. Likes to post up in one-on-one situations when she has a smaller defender. Has a similar mid-range game. - She plays primarily off the ball. She has great court vision for a wing. Extremely unselfish. One of my pet peeves about Mik was sometimes she held the ball and just dribbled there, but Greta appears a little quicker with her decisions.
She is a really solid all around player. A great addition to a reloading OSU backcourt.

Thanks beaverwbb fan. Great reading your thoughts. I'm really looking forward to watching Greta, Talia, Sasha, and Savannah playing together. Other teams will definitely have their hands full with those four. I know they will have Taylor and Kennedy to play with for a while, but now it's time to land some bigs to go with them.

Her games were streamed on BallerTV if anyone is subscribed. Didn’t get to watch the full games, only segments, but her passing ability really stuck out. She will get a lot of assists with Taylor down low. She plays similarly to Mik.

A word of caution on Stanford "offers". Stanford does preliminary work evaluating a recruit's academic profile. That's the first hurdle. If the staff concludes they wish to offer, that offer is conditional on the the recruit getting through a far more vigorous process by the Admissions Department. If the recruit clears the second hurdle and reaches admit status, then the offer is convertible.
In 2018 and 2019, Stanford received over 35,000 applications for admission. The admit rate was 4.7%. The lowest in the nation. The key question for you when you see a Beaver recruit is also being recruited by Stanford, is to ask. . . . .has she been admitted? Admission means trouble - about 90% of the admitted athletes that receive Stanford offers, elect to attend school there.
So, was Greta admitted, or was she holding a "Conditional offer"?

That's a very good point, and one to bear in mind when we see Stanford on a player's list of schools. Let's give Greta the benefit of the doubt, and assume she was admitted but opted for being one of the 10%.

You can commit to Stanford before being admitted, which is what Greta could have done. Brooke Demetre committed way before she could have been admitted. Not sure about Talia, but I do know that Greta had the green light to commit to Stanford based off of GPA and test scores. Mik was formally admitted, since she waited until November to make her commitment.

I have no insights here, but I'm doubting the 4.7% admit rate applies to athletes that Stanford coaches want. Obviously they don't take kids that have poor academics, but their evaluation criteria for students in general spans a lot of areas, and my understanding is there's flexibility on the criteria weighting, as they want kids with more than just stellar academics.
