USC average attendance last 5 years: 2014 832 2015 888 2016 989 2017 940 2018 750 That is absolutely pathetic. And those numbers are probably inflated. Exactly. Recruits have to know about their apathetic fan base don't they? That's gotta be insulting to play in a nearly empty building for every home game.

Looking at the big drop off in attendance from 2017 to 2018, I'm guessing somebody with a whole bunch of family in the area must have graduated in '17.

LOL... I'm guessing young ladies don't care about home crowds as much as some on this board do. Looking at two fantastic recruiting classes, 2019 rated as high as #5 by some and the addition of two stellar grad transfers (Jeune former Rutgers/Morehead St, 6'1" G 16.1/6.1/2.7... and Watts from NC, 5'11", 15.2/5.5/3.1 and true 3 pt threat) it seems Trakh has talent galore to work with, home crowds or not, and 1-1 vs OSU down there in his two years.
Crowds or not every Pac12 road game will be tough. Some say playing in front of a sparse away crowd is harder to do, just no external excitement to fire you up. I just hope catching them later in the Pac12 season, on the road isn't a huge negative. That'll be a huge road trip for overall seeding.

Top-35 2020 6’3 F Ugonne Onyiah chooses Cal. Really nice inaugural class for Charmin Smith.

Jeez, between Jenkins to USC and Daniels to Cal, this has been a disappointing week as a Washingtonian. It's not like either of those programs are exactly doing very well recently. Why does nobody want to stay in the PNW?

Playing time? Academics ? The WNBA is a joke pay-wise. Only real money is overseas, and not everyone wants to go overseas.

Yes the "lots of negative recruiting going on" comment from her AAU coach while mentioning Duke, Stanford and OSU made me wonder which school the coach affiliated with the negative recruiting (perhaps all of them). I guess where my head is at on recruiting (barring any pleasant surprises beyond Samuels and Goforth in the next few weeks) is: We really, really need a deep run this year, ideally Final 4 (or better), showcasing our future potential in the bigs, and advertising the future availability of minutes in the backcourt (though Savannah and Sasha might have something to say about that). We have a very selective targeting system, which I like, but some of those backcourt targets have to land to keep the pipeline full..... Luckily I believe this year's team is capable of a deep run, but we need some visible uplift (look at what: deep run + facilities + fawning over SI + overt Nike affiliations (Kobe signing sneakers in the locker room, anyone?) has done for the outfit down the road). Landing DD would have been nice, but all the new length probably made her think twice about minutes here. Heartened she at least still paid us a courtesy (though interesting midweek) visit. And the Bay Area/Cal might fit what she was looking for, which I have no insight into. Go Beavers!
