Weird, but an earlier article said that she'd committed to Purdue.

Melious committed to Purdue on October 15, 2019. I believe that was before she had ever played in a high school basketball game. Probably one of her first offers at the time, and she was young and jumped the gun. (Former ‘22 OSU recruit Carleigh Wenzel did something similar with Texas Tech before decommitting as well).
Back to Melious, on July 13, 2020, it was announced that she was reopening her recruitment after a good summer showing and picking up more offers (plus interest from OSU).
She doesn’t look the most athletic, but is apparently an incredible scorer and shooter. She’ll be a interesting one to track.

Nicole Melious has a big twitter presence from someone her age. After reading this last night, I thought I would check back through twitter to see about her commitment. There are way to many post (over 8000).
She's rated #15 in the class of 2023 by ASGR, but apparently isn't ranked by ESPN. She has over 50 offers with more than 30 being from Power 5 schools. BH seems to be the only Beaver coach folllowing her on twitter, but Nicole has been following both BH and KF for a long time.
Ont thing is certain. She is both a shooter and a scorer. She knows how to put the ball in the basket. All comments about her mention how hard she works. When you watch her, she does seem, as beaverwbb fan said, to not be that athletic, but she may be a bit deceiving. She reminds me a bit of HVL.
A few highlights:

Amazing release and touch. Strong also to be so accurate with odd looking lay ups.

2023 Elite by Prospects Nation: prospectsnation.com/2023-elite-60-watch-listNicole Meloius makes the list, so she is definitely getting attention. There isn't much noise other than the mention above of her possible recruitment by Oregon State, but whether she and the Beavs have any mutual interest, she is a fun follow on twitter. Obvious hard worker and highly thought of by those who have seen her play.

I updated the initial page of the 2023 thread. Only added players who there has been a concrete link to OSU with, but I'm sure many more will pop up along the way.

Many I see for 2023 are not even ranked by ESPN or any other service. Too early? How can we compete in the Pac-12 with unranked players?

Many I see for 2023 are not even ranked by ESPN or any other service. Too early? How can we compete in the Pac-12 with unranked players? Probably a combination of things: 1. No large national AAU tournaments made it more difficult for a lot of kids (especially younger ones like 2023s) to be seen. 2. Maybe OSU is recruiting a bunch of top-25 kids, just keeping it very private. 3. Maybe OSU has identified some kids they think are top-25 players. There will still be both new OSU targets and shifts in the rankings. 2023 may also be a smaller class if we take four 2022s.

SR has a good record of seeing talent that others haven't. Also you need kids to fill out the roster so you have someone to practice against for the stars. And sometimes the kids who don't seem like much in high school develop talent later in life from a good work ethic.

I'm curious about the recruitment of 2023 Imbie Jones of Eastside Catholic HS in Bellevue Wa. Seems like someone Oregon State would be very interested in. Not a big presence that I've seen on social media, but a huge presence on the basketball court.
