I ran across this in Raoul Twitter:
"Hearing that there are a total of five Southern Cal WBB players currently in the transfer portal: Marguerite Effa, Asiah Jones, Danijela Milisic, Minyon Moore, and Ja'Tavia Tapley. Last month, Jillian Archer announced she was transferring to Georgetown."
Not sure what is behind this. I was of the impression that Trakh was liked by his players..... Moore, Tapley and Archer are significant losses..... I think USC is bringing two very solid frosh in Sept. - but I'll have to check as I'm writing from memory.
Any ideas why 6 players would bail from a USC team that showed considerable promise despite few results.
GO BEAVS !!

Any ideas why 6 players would bail from a team that showed considerable promise but few results. GO BEAVS !! Trakh might be liked by his players, but they sure didn't seem to like each other. Just looking at body language in the games I saw them play, including in the pac-12 tourney, it looked like they all hated each other.

At the start of the season I was so prepared to eat crow regarding Trakh. When USC hired him I thought, "He's a retread. Better than your average Mountain West coach, but he can't win at the Pac-12 level." But after a decent start last year, a good recruiting class, and a 10-1 non-conference start this year, I was ready to pencil in USC as a future contender.
I guess not.

The exodus from USC might prove to be an interesting story.... Coach Trakh has signed a pretty good incoming class - 4 top 100 prospects, which would be USC's best recruiting class in a long while... ---
wbosh15 makes an interesting point but I don't think USC's player deportment stemmed from dislike of one another as much as from lack of proper coaching. Part of coaching involves teaching kids how to carry themselves on the court. How to react to officials (at which USC is downright crude); how to communicate effectively with one another; how to deport yourself when you are subbed out and head to the bench; how to respond to teammates errors; etc...
Having watched every PAC team several times each year for the past several years I can say that USC is easily the worst behaved team in the conference. They act like high school kids playing' street ball....
The OSU staff is masterful in teaching proper court conduct. The USC staff is not (to put it mildly).

The big rumor is Minyon Moore to Oregon. She just began following Mississippi State assistant coach as well as Kelly Graves. Perhaps one of those two?

Moore would help the Ducks considerably - -she would offset the loss of Carzola (sp)-- and enhance team speed with her tenacious perimeter defense... I sure the hell hope she has to sit a year.....I'm getting tired of WBB transfers being granted immediate eligibility (like Shepherd at ND)..
Especially aggravating are good players from weaker teams trying to latch on to an established power..Transfers are intended to assist student athletes in their personal lives or in their academic ambitions...
Miss State plucked a prime time player from A & M last year...If she stayed at A & M they might have crashed the Final Four....
At any rate, I have no desire to face Moore anywhere - especially in a Duck uniform.... GO BEAVS !!

There are already over 400 players in the WBB transfer portal. Transfers may not be as important as recruiting at this point, but they are playing a big role.
If Moore goes to the ducks, that's a big boost for their shot next year. The question will be, can her and SI get along? How will Moore play with a team full of talent? It's possible it may not work out well for her, but most likely it would be a great move for a chance at a championship.

She an Ionescu are good friends. They were rivals in HS and played together on the Cal Stars alongside Kat.

While we are talking Gossip, Kelly Graves has gone to twitter looking for two more home games next season. To be honest, I think the real reason is to drum up interest and chatter from WBB fans around the country, and I think it's working. I'm sure he could get more home games without posting about it on twitter, but it is good for some talk.
Interesting, the ducks are playing Syracuse (haven't followed closely enough to see who they return) and UConn on the road next season.

So, not being a conspiracy guy, I believe this is a well planned set of strategic moves by the sucks and suck, inc. ( U of Knight ), to 1) Draw interest where it is required ( to attract talent from ‘anywhere’, 2) to cover for Nike payments to Bol Bol and 3) to further the jock sniffer suck fans to elevate their shiny old objects ( Sabrina the flopping hyena and Dana ‘Deliverance’ Banjo plucker ! People think that Beav fans are a little harsh on the suck following. Hel! Yes, look at their comments about the Beavs and the Beav athletes. In my opinion, we are not even close to the cra- they pull. Not to mention the Boregonian. We get ignored and downplayed no matter how we perform. Even in baseball , the feathered nest gets a split with Fresno State and the Oregonian writes it up like no one could possibly EVER accomplish such a feat except the mighty ducks. At the same time, we SWEEP ( yeah, it was Utah ), but we didn’t get one line of type. We also won National championship in men’s racquetball - If that was the ducks , there would be a 15 mile parade of hippies walking from Springfield to Portland carrying National Championship (unused ) flags that have been in storage in Eugene since the beginning of time. Loved also that in ‘choking’ throughout the Final Four game, the Flopper was regaled with highlight of her 4 point play vs the fact that she shot 25% from the floor and went 0-7 from the field. Sort of a’hide the ball’ journalism routine, When the headline should have read ‘ Sabrina Owesyou ‘ Choking isn’t as easy as it looks !

Some of You guys have no class. I am embarrassed at the stupidity from adults. Wish You had to use your real name. Look I don't even care to read about them. But just to be negative takes a real Man I guess.

Syracuse played at TTATT this year or last and UConn came out two years ago for a four-team event in Portland, but did not play the ducks.
