I just don't think it's comparable. But that's me. Horton vs. Casey is the same to me. Horton and Graves recruited to a brand and state of the art facilities where Rueck and Casey had a much harder road to hoe. If you can't see that then I and none of your beaver brethren can help you. I don't recommend trying to hoe a road. lol I was imagining that when I 'penned' it and it seemed off. I was thinking about how tough that would be especially if the soil was really hard. Then I googled it and was like duh. In my defense everytime my dad asked me to come weed the garden I disappeared.

Graves is obviously a very good recruiter. If he wasn’t, Ionescu, Hebard, and Sabally would be wearing orange and black because they are among a fair chunk of their roster OSU coaches recruited (and they have recruited a share of ours as well). Obviously, similarly to when Rueck was building up his program, the lure of immediate playing time will help bring in players. Graves brought in a highly ranked recruiting class and his success was largely built on that. He is bringing in an all-international class in 2019, so he isn’t necessarily bringing in powerhouse recruiting classes. Out recruiting them in 2020 for Ware, Clark, Daniels, etc will be very pivotal for both squads.

Graves was quoted in the paper yesterday as saying that "everyone wanted to be there at the game. We didn't have to buy them a cup of coffee.", an obvious jab at the Dutch Bros. promotion. We should all show up tomorrow with an empty Dutch Bros. cup and toast Mr. Clean before the game. Go Beavs!

Point of comparison: OSU WBB Season Tickets (General Admission) - $92. UO WBB - $49. For reserved, it's $150 vs $99. Rueck is generating more dollars for his school than Graves by a long shot. (And doing it in a much smaller town.)

I wonder if the comment was accompanied by a good natured smile or ….. Or maybe I should not bother analyzing one random comment. I think Kelly’s explicit statements about OSU have historically been pretty complimentary/friendly. Both coaches realize that it is beneficial to have the rival be a strong team. As one example, visiting Pac12 teams cannot look past one of the teams making the weekend somewhat of a nightmare. In addition, Scott is an Oregonian and Kelly has a history in Oregon. Both have emphasized how cool it is that both teams are doing so well. Both teams together have put the state of Oregon in the spotlight nationally and internationally.

How ironic coming from an athletic department built on corporate promotion.

I have a friend that did game security at Gill and was assigned to "guard" the visiting coaches and the bench. He tells me that Graves is the only visiting coach that wasn't pleasant and appreciative to the Gill staff, and he openly expressed contempt for OSU, Gill, and the staff. He also heard a lot of what was said on the bench, and he told me he'd never let his daughter play for the guy.
It's just one person's observation, but he was in a good spot to see the man when few others were looking.

How ironic coming from an athletic department built on corporate promotion. Real cheap shot-no class action from Coach Graves. You would not find Coach Rueck acting in this manner. Coach Graves appears to have let his recent success go right to his head. There is a historical proven statement that fits this situation, "The higher they are, the further they fall". May his fall happen asap!

I will add I also think Graves took a cheap shot with his Dutch Bros promotion remark. Somewhere, I saw a screenshot of Civil War ticket prices for MKA in their effort to make it a sellout, of $2 and $3 for bench seats near the top of the arena I suppose. Those who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones, or something like that.

I can tell you that 1000's of seats on the secondary market sold for less that any Dutch coffee... and, if you attended, there were "advertised" free tix being handed out to youth groups. Graves is who he is. But, talking about your opponents is a sign of weakness in a coach... in any facet. Unless you're talking about the game itself and the upcoming past contest, anything else about the program is pure BS and says more about Graves than a promotional opportunity to pack the gym. PS- what is considered capacity at Gill now days. Last night announced 9301... plenty of random seats empty all over, but in season tix sections. However there was plenty of room at the top bench sections. I thought sell outs were closer to 9700 at one time?

The next year or the following the small balconies were added over the corners. Sell outs were then listed at 10,400. There had been five or six years of consecutive sell outs and there were plans to hang balconies from both end zones. The capacity would have been about 11,800. Obviously never done and not needed in the last 30 plus years.

They announce 2100+ students breaking a record. Not sure when they began but there were more than 2100 lined up on the ramp back in the day let alone in the gym!

9301 is capacity now. They have lost some seats converting bench seats to seat backs. There were a few no shows, but it was a great crowd

Last night, I was sitting 5 seats over from Dr.Ray. Sitting directly next to him, you guessed it, were 2 duck fans. They were well behaved (shock), but I doubt if they even knew who he was. Seems our ticket office might pay closer attention to such situations.

If you fast foward toward near the end, Satou Sabally throws out a few compliments for the Beavs (only to say they are second to the *ucks) and then says “we’re better” I really couldn’t imagine one of our players saying they are better in a pregame interview. I don’t have a problem with it, I just don’t see an OSU player going out and saying that.
