I find it quite revealing that the Beavs didn't offer Kennedy Basham, who is a great prospect. Nor did they offer Grace VanSlooten, who is an amazing talent herself, and the type of player I would normally expect to be "that fit" the Beavs always look for.
What this reveals, I'm not sure, lol, but my guess would be that the Beavs are fairly confident they are going to land the players they want. We know they have Reagan and Adlee. I thought Raegan may be a PF in college, but the lack of recruiting Basham makes me think Raegan may be their plan for center while Timea would be their hope at PF. Would they still be interested in Lily Hansford, whom we know has been offered? Will they sign 4 in 2022? My guess would be they will sign 3 or 4.

The beavs definitely seem to choose more wisely about who they offer scholarships to, whereas other schools hand them out like candy. The “right” approach is a whole other subject, but this seems to be working for Rueck so far. I’m also getting the impression that the staff is confident about those they have offered scholarships to. Hopefully it works out!

Anyone on here happen to know the severity of Timea’s knee injury? Either way, I hope she is able to recover quickly and be at full strength by the time the 2022 college season rolls around. Oh and hopefully she picks the beavs

Carleigh Wenzel, who received early interest from the Beavs and is ranked #37 by Hoopgrulz in the class of 2022, is going to announce her commitment tomorrow at 2pm. It won't be the Beavs as I don't believe they offered, and didn't make her final 6, but there is a fair chance of her landing in the Pac-12. These four pac-12 teams are in the final six...Oregon, Arizona State, Stanford, and Arizona.
I think somewhere around 15 of Hoopgurls super 60 have announced their commitment so far. I wonder when Timea will take that step?

"Gardiner is considered a five-star recruit, and ESPN ranks her No. 4 among girls in the class of 2022. She’s narrowed down her college choices to three Pac-12 programs: Oregon State, Stanford and UCLA." Article

Wenzels brother, Brendan, left UTEP for Utah. Carleigh and her brother are very close ! I don't see Utah mentioned as being in the loop.either (yet),! There was some 'hint' that Brendan had an off court issue - but - I am inclined to think it was just playing time ! My guess for Carleigh would be Stanford or Arizona - but that is just a WAG !

Here's where the extra year of eligibility could work in our favor. Stanford has #4 Brook Demetre, #19 Okikiula Iriafen, and #3 Cameron Brink who will all have 4 years of eligibility next year, so 3 years when Gardiner would get there. #1 Haley Jones and #23 Francesca Belibi will have 2 years left. They all play either the 3 or the 4. At the 5 spot, they'll have #1 Lauren Betts coming in the same year and #16 Ashton Prechtel with 2 years.
Going to be awfully hard to find playing time in the front court even if you are the # 4 recruit nationally. We, however, are going to be needing taller forwards at that time. Ellie will be gone, and Taya (if she stays that long) will be in her last year. The only other tall forward would be Kennedy.
If primary focus is the degree, she goes to Stanford; if it's playing time early on, she chooses us or UCLA.

I like your thinking - but , then it comes down to 'who would you rather play for ; Cori Close or Scott Rueck ? Not even a fair question. Sort of like asking if you prefer snake or filet mignon.

If you're trying to say that Rueck is a better coach than Close, you won't get many arguments.
Close, however, is admired and respected by her players. She is held in high regard by the boosters at UCLA and by the faculty that follows WBB.
She participates in a lot of the same community involvement programs with her players that Scott encourages and promotes. A lot of young women, and their parents, consider Cori Close a good person and a positive role model.
So, yeah, there are a lot of reasons a talented kid might choose to play WBB for Cori Close at UCLA. GO BEAVS!!

Several top players have listed UCLA as a finalist lately, but have chosen to go elsewhere. Let's hope this trend continues and Close keeps living up to her name (as in Close but no cigar?).

Her postgame press conference after losing to us was a class act! Gave us lots of credit for the win...unlike some other Pac-12 coaches. Post game press conference

I believe when talent is equal SR always has the upper hand. What I like about Cori is that she promotes the Pac-12. I follow her on twitter and admire the way she's a cheerleader for her team and the Pac-12. She is definitely in on a lot of talented recruits every year, and she lands a lot of talent (I'm sure the school, campus, area help a lot). As somebody said though she is always 'Close' but so far, she just can't get it done when it comes to winning the conference.
