The dead period is now officially extended through April 15:
Certainly a good year to have gotten some kids on campus so early.

It's a very good thing as well that we already have 2 major commitments for 2022.

Does anyone know if we are seriously looking at any other prospects beyond Timea Gardiner and Lily Hansford? And what are our chances looking like with Gardiner? If I’m remembering right, she has been on campus before. I’m wondering if that would give OSU any sort of an advantage considering the extended recruiting dead period.

I believe Mara Braun, a 5-11 guard out of Minnesota, is a possible option as well. She doesn't publicize any recruiting information, but OSU has definitely shown some interest. Gardiner is down to UCLA, Stanford, Notre Dame, Oregon, Arizona State, and Oregon State. She visited twice when she was in middle school, but hasn't since she was in high school. Probably Stanford if I had to guess, but OSU appears to have a chance. Her club coach, Natalie Williams, played for UCLA, so she may try to push her there. Would be nice to get her on campus with Greta and Talia. She'll probably take an official when the dead period restrictions are lifted. Here are Braun's highlights against Hopkins, the #1 HS team in the country with at least four top-25 prospects from 2020-2023, including Paige Bueckers. She's talented:

Wow, yes, fluid player, quick release on her 3 , almost as impressive....the crowd size at her game(s) ! Maybe it's because of the competition that night.

Could be completely meaningless or could hint at some positive relationship development. Either way, Gardiner to the beavs would be a real game changer for this program moving forward. Braun is very impressive and clearly plays at a high level, even if it’s just high school ball. She is proven against tough competition and I’m sure Rueck would love to add another shooting guard with height to the roster!

Wow!....that highlight video of Mara B. against the #1 team in the country is amazing....I can't believe she was just a sophomore then.....She should be top 5 in the country by her Sr. year!.....I hate to say it as good as our new 5-star freshman-Sasha is turning out to be---but that this girl looks better already and she was only a soph. in this highlight video.....At 5'11" she is quick, fast, gets back and plays defense, handles the ball well, shoots well off the dribble, and is a deadly long-range spot-up shooter. She is the total package....best sophomore player I've ever seen!

Here's another game where she comes down to earth a bit: In that video, you see her teammate Jenna Johnson, who is a Utah commit, and they've played together since 4th grade (see the post-game interviews), so I have to believe that helps get her to come to the Pac-12. Braun's last comment is a bit concerning.

Braun today announced her commitment to Minnesota. From -- www.startribune.com/coveted-wayzata-guard-mara-braun-picks-gophers/573361471/ : For a good indication of how well-regarded she is, consider Braun's final top-six list: Minnesota, Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon State, Maryland and Iowa."I told Lindsay that Mara was upstairs saying no to the 14th-, 15th- and 19th-ranked teams in the country," Chris Braun said of a conversation with Whalen. "Coach Whalen is awesome. And the staff, they're good people. It's going to be great."She'll play early and a lot for Minnesota. Sounds like she didn't get to visit many other schools, OSU included.

Rueck has tried to recruit some really good Pg's to OSU. Clark was high on his list and several others.this position still seems to be a major need going forward. All the girls comming in 2021 and 22 look like 2's that can play spurts at the 1. I may be wrong Rough loss for us losing Slocum this year just because of the recruiting issue. Slocum was a 1 that can play the 2 and Aleah is a 2 that can play the one.
