beaverwbb fan's highlight quote in the post above just about wraps up the bones of the article as far as OSU recruiting and PV is concerned....
Most of the article overviews her busy summer, and her impressive rise to Elite status on the national stage...
My guess is that Adam is featuring Payton V. in today's article so that down the road, when more important events are happening, he will have better access to her...
It seems to me that, except for the one quote above, the entire article could have been written without an interview...Indeed, several people on this board could've written it..
At any rate, I'm really glad to hear that the Beavs are definitely in contention for one of the very best players in America in the 2021 cycle.

Being selected a member of the USA U16 team is impressive.
Being selected Captain of the U16 team is very impressive.
Being selected MVP of the entire tournament is totally, freakin' out of sight impressive....
To my awareness, OSU has NEVER had their recruiting hooks into a player of this calibre. Ever.

I missed this article on Jersey Wolfenbarger by Adam Nicholson on BeaverBlitz. I discovered it by doing a google search. For others who also haven't read this I will post it again. 247sports.com/college/oregon-state/Article/2021-WBB-target-Jersey-Wolfenbarger--130795729/She says she plans on a visit to OSU sometime this summer. Does anybody know if she has made the visit yet. The article was done in April. Going back through Benny's house threads I couldn't find it posted anywhere. Thanks for any info. |

Why doesn't she just name her final 8 schools? It would reduce speculation and cut down on her getting phone calls, social media/letters/email and game visits from teams who have no shot but don't know that. She would waste less time and so would the non-contenders. |

She probably told her coaches what schools she has cut it down.
Just like I’m sure HVL has cut it down, but hasn’t made it public, but coaches likely know.

Greta just finished her sophomore year in h.s. - probably doesn't even have a driver's license....In her interview rehearsals (probably with parents) her last words of advise were something to the effect: "Don't say anything that will backfire. Be polite."
My guess is that she may or may not even have a specific list of "about eight schools."
At any rate, I'm encouraged that she was given the go ahead to conduct an interview with Adam, who is essentially an OSU proxy of sorts....
The bigger story, at least to me, is that OSU is now recruiting a cluster (not just one or two) of Elite, National level players....OSU is now competing against the very best programs in the country for the very best players in the country.
This has never before been the case..It's new territory for Coach Rueck and his staff - and it looks like it will continue on an annual basis for the foreseeable future...
My guess is that the premiere programs (and all Pac-12 programs) are watching very closely to see how successful the Beavs are in reeling in players from this elite talent pool..

Ok, so her coaches probably know.....and they tell the other teams of their status with her... but do they also tell players (and player's parents) of non-contending teams recruiting her to join their team? ...maybe, maybe not...but most importantly, she could help wbb fans and followers from wasting their time ))))))) |

Well, all that matters to me is OSU is a contender at this point and she is working on getting to campus. Those are all good signs to me.
She is a 6’0 SG who is exactly what the coaches like. It isn’t hard to see why they would love a back court of Goforth, Van Lith, Verhulst, and Kampschroeder.

I think we assume that these players spend as much time thinking about their recruiting as us fans. These girls are busy, busy, busy, and as important as this decision is, they don't have time to think about it 24/7 like we all do. I think their mental process is a lot like when my wife asks what I want for dinner.
"Lunch has been very good and I’m very happy with the options I have. I’ve narrowed my list down to about eight main courses so now it’s just about which dinner really tastes like home and is going to make me the most satisfied as a diner."
That's me right up to about 6pm, and then it becomes, "What do you mean we're having pot roast again?"

Here is an updated 2021 recruiting chart (click to enlarge):  Definitely appears Verhulst is the top target, and Kampschroeder and Wolfenbarger are right behind. von Oelhoffen and O'Grady are players that appear to have been followed by the staff on social media, but I'm not sure how serious of a target they are. Walker and Washington have both visited, but not sure their statuses either. |
