Another reason why the Pac-12 is the premier woman's basketball conference in America. Might not snag many championships, but talk about a meat grinder regular season.

Not sure if OSU has any interest in the younger one (don’t see them taking the older one at this point), but the Huard sisters are transferring from WA to Valor Christian in CO. Should make Raegan Beers team very good. The older sister Haley committed to Montana.

A couple hours ago Lauren Walker from Marietta Georgia de-committed from Duke because of the recent resignation of Coach P. Lauren and BH have already started following each other on twitter. Lauren is a 6"2" wing that is a known as a good shooter and can certainly rebound averaging 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds last season.
Lauren is not ranked by Prospects Nation, Hoopgurlz, or ASGR, but Blue Star does have her at number #163 in the 2021 class. Lauren says her recruitment is 100% open and after watching a little video, I could see her playing in the Pac-12 (although the Pac-12 is a long way from Georgia). She's plays AAU ball for Hoops Dreams Athletics, but being from the Atlanta area I'm guessing her and Savannah Samuel know each other pretty well. My main point here is not that the Beavs will actively recruit Lauren, because I have no idea at this point. To me it just shows how active the coaches are, that as soon as a player becomes available, the coaches are on top of it. I'm sure this is true at most schools, but it's nice to see that our coaches keep their eyes and ears open all the time. Here's some junior season highlights that I have not watched yet.

I think OSU fans moved on a while ago, but Kiki Iriafen committed to Stanford today.

I completely believe in Scott, and his plan each and every year. He takes the time to carefully recruit the right players, and realizes how much chemistry matters. You don't just put together a roster Willy nilly. Talent is only a small part of team sport success....

Sorry qbeaver, but talent is not "only a small part of team sport success." It is far and away the most important part of team success, especially when measured by wins and losses....
What you might be getting at is that there are a lot of things than can sabotage talent, make it less productive, or interfere with team chemistry. Yeh, that's pretty much Coaching 101. For sure.
But, nobody who keeps their coaching job is likely to "put together a roster Willy nilly." At least I've never heard of anyone doing it. Maybe you can provide an example or two....
Bottom line: proper management of talent is essential to team success, but except for a few Super coaches, nobody consistently wins without talent. Lots of it. Wooden himself could have coached last year's WSU WBB team and it would not have cracked the top four.
Scott is a great coach. I'm with you on that. Try this: name one of his good teams for which talent was "only a small part of" its success. He's had players who start in the WNBA, players who have been voted POY, and players voted defensive POY in the Pac..... He's a good coach, everyone agrees. But in no way, shape, or form is talent only a small part of his success... GO BEAVS !!

Seems to me the coach factor was higher than you are giving him credit for.

beaveragain - - let's see, you tell me if the '15-16 team had much talent on its roster.
Gabe Hansen - who, the next year, was voted Pac-12 Defensive POY... Jamie Weisner - WNBA, Pac-12 All Star (not sure, but I think she was also Pac-12 POY) Marie Gulich - WNBA, and Pac-12 All star Sydney Weise - WNBA, Pac-12 All Star - Pac-12 POY; Ruth Hamblin - all time rebound leader at OSU; All time blocked shot leader at OSU; WNBA; Pac 12 Defensive POY (or came in 2nd in voting for this award)
5 different players who earned Pac-12 All Star.....I think most observers would consider this a team pretty much loaded with talent....
Not to mention some OK bench support in Kolbie Orum, Brea Brown and future team captain Katie Mac...... GO BEAVS !!

But coming IN to the program these were not considered to be a highly ranked group of gals. ie, not so talented before SR worked his magic and the players put in the hard work.

There was some magic, but there was also some grossly underrated players coming out of high school.

beaver again - - Just a few minor points to take in as you see fit....
Most basketball coaches believe in the maxim that goes something like this: "You can't take out what God didn't put in."
Less theistically inclined coaches believe that they themselves create talent out of the talent-less players delivered to them. Much as God himself created the universe out of nothing. They believe that when you see talent on the floor, it's because they created it. Politicians may be possessed of such narcissism, but few coaches last long with that kind of self-congratulatory egocentrism.
I watched Ruth work on her footwork one week during her Frosh year. Every person in the gym saw her talent. No one doubted it - coach Rueck and his staff cultivated it superbly, but not magically. Ruthie brought the natural talent, coach trained it and developed it.
I don't want this to spiral downward - to imply coach is not a premiere coach because he certainly is.
But like all good coaches, he coaches a lot better when he has a roster full of talent. If you read his comments about these "unranked" players after they signed on at OSU, it's pretty clear coach believed they were bringing a lot of talent with them to his gym.... GO BEAVS!!

Kind of amazing to see Washington ranked so high. Wynn hasn't shown herself to be much of a recruiter prior to this class. Unfortunately they are all guards and wings and they desperately need some post players.
