We beat St. Mary's 89 - 56, in front of 4,329. Held them to 33.9% from the floor, and outrebounded them by 19. So that would have been an impressive all around show for her to see.

I would be it would be hard to tell Arkansas that she will be a beaver, considering she is from Arkansas and the passion for sports in the SEC is unhealthy crazy. I'm hoping Goforth commits to the Beavers on her visit so we can get on the board with an elite talent...great players want to play with other great players. Are you listening Hailey Van Lith?

Tomorrow is the day. I don't know the Corvallis weather forecast, but it's suppose to be great in Portland this weekend. Nothing like disproving the "it rains everyday in Oregon" belief that so many midwesterners have. I hope Sasha and family, and anyone else who may be in this weekend, have a great time and get to see the team culture that SR and crew have developed.

Weather forecast is sunny and pleasant, and the rhodies should be in bloom on campus.

Like many others on this site I have only followed this story from the various poster's viewpoints. I like the optimistic views the best, of course. Having no inside information can be frustrating, but I continue to be amazed at how women's basketball has become an elite program under Scott Rueck. Scott and his staff are absolute experts at spotting, successfully recruiting, and developing the athletes, that do sign, to a level that optimizes every aspect of what it means to be a scholar athlete. The young women also absolutely thrive, as a team, and as individuals and remain close friends long after their playing days are over. We have to remind ourselves that, in sports, ' family' is used way too liberally by every other program at every level - however, here at OSU, under Scott, this program is the real deal. Virtually every other sport and program, as you delve deeper into it's real culture and values, has various flaws that seem to surface at some point during a given coaches tenure, one way or another. You really wish that you could provide every potential recruit, and their family, the real story behind this incredible example of this commitment to excellence, in every possible area. While the school down the road is preaching family - they are really saying ' it's all about us' and we can draw you in with the artificial bling and obligatory recruiting talk - but, once you are here, you are on your own to sink or swim. We only care about winning- period. You are just a piece of that dream that we are always 'chasing'.'The USC WBB program is another example - but they use the 'brand / history of the University and sweep current coach, player and 'current lack of family values and player discontent issues under the rug as long as they can. So here is to the recruits and families going through this process. Look at everything, do a deep dive with impartial athletes from each program, as well as non biased current and former athletes from other programs. One's that left, one's that stayed, one's that made it to the next level, other families.... everything that you expect for your daughter during and after your daughters time away from home. I know I am not a party of one, but I believe OSU - due to Coach Rueck- will be one of the very few programs that ticks every box on whatever evaluation method is used. That should give every stakeholder in the process, including the athletes, the ability to make a quality and very well informed decision. Thank you Coach Rueck, We all appreciate your genuine and open, 'true' family program !

The weather is beautiful, it's Mom's Weekend so campus will be buzzing, and there's a home baseball series. Harmonic convergence.

Thank you Coach Rueck, We all appreciate your genuine and open, 'true' family program ! There is a wonderful interview/article floating around out there about SR's undefeated National Championship team at his prior school. That team had 10 freshmen on it. And what he observed was they wouldn't stop talking to each other, and they became extremely tight very quickly..... They started playing for each other - their family in the truest sense of the word. And then they remained tight, not because they won the NC, but because they had created lasting bonds that transcended place, time and school. That is what I really admire about SR - that he figured that out, figured out how to recreate that to rebuild the OSU program that was in tatters, and that he insists on winning the right way, and he does his job for the right reasons. And recruiting for his staff has become a process of identifying young women with the maturity to look beyond bling and ethically challenged situations/coaches to realize there is more to life than "me" or "winning" or "getting mine", and that how you do something is as important as what you do....... I've started thinking very highly of *potential* WBB Beaver players, because they clearly have great values, upbringing, maturity to at least consider all of that and consider us. Now they also have options and choices thanks to their talent and hard work, and have every right to do what aligns well to their values and their dreams.........but the fact Sasha is on campus visiting says a heck of a lot about her beyond her ability to put the ball in the basket. It also says something about Taylor and Kennedy that they spotted those characteristics while on their visit and knew their values and ours aligned right away, to the point they didn't need to go off and do a compare/contrast with other options. And kudos to our staff for continuing to win, even in recruiting, the right way. I'd love to win some NCs (and I harbor the hopes that someday soon we might). But I sure as heck don't want to back a program full of scumbag coaches making slimy moves to "just win baby"......at that point, as Billy Joel would say "if that's moving up then I'm moving out"! Go Beavers!

Seems to me that Crystal Ball sort of takes some wild leaps of faith based on the possibility that a recruit might commit during the respective campus visit. Hope they are correct too - but, I just don’t see how they can get inside a players head or that players family’s thinking . We will see if they truly have inside information, or not. Hope they took her and family to Trailblazer game last night...that would seal the deal.
