I don't know for sure if she now has a top 3 in mind. I know she still really likes OSU coaches. She is an outstanding defender. On her high school team she is typically assigned the other team's best player whether it's a post player or a point guard. On her EYBL team she was typically assigned to defend the other team's best perimeter player.

It is helpful to remember that Sasha is now in her Junior year of H.S....
Her visit indicates how national ranked athletes must put in a lot of travel, and a lot of homework, when choosing their university ... I would think that travelling to the Northwest on her family's dime shows genuine interest on her part... It also indicates that her family has tacitly accepted the possibility that she may attend university out of state. A big first step in a family's decision making process. Especially a close knit family......
All of these are encouraging signs for the Beavs....I can't see an Arkansas family travelling to Oregon in mid-November out of casual curiosity.... Her visit (along with the visits of other nationally recruited players) is a testament to OSU WBB being perceived throughout America as a premiere program..
It's pretty remarkable to watch what Coach R and his staff have accomplished in the past 5 year. Very impressive. It's a great time to be a fan.... GO BEAVS !!

I agree with all that. It is obvious from our 2019 class that OSU is perceived as a top level destination on a national level, not just regionally. One would have to assume that isn't just limited to the kids, but also includes high school coaches to whom many of these families will turn for counsel as they go through the recruiting process.
The 2020 class is loaded with point guards, including 3 of the top 4 recruits on Hoopgurlz, and several of them have expressed at least some interest in OSU. It isn't hard to imagine somebody like Goforth envisioning a nucleus of her, Brown, Jones, and, say, Van Lith, and being very excited about the prospect. Add in the coaching staff's obvious ability to develop individual talent and team play, what solid, well grounded people are part of the program, top to bottom, and a fan base that will allow Ms Goforth to play a team like Cal Poly and have more people in the seats for that one game than saw her play over her entire high school career.
It's an awfully attractive package.

Another aspect that has to be appealing to these guard prospects is the opportunity for playing time. When they are freshmen, Slocum and Goodman will be seniors and Simmons a junior. When they are sophomores, Simmons a senior. That gives opportunities for immediate playing time which often proves a role in the decision.

Well, she Twitter-follows OSUWBB, Coach Katie, SR and Taylor Jones......let's hope she and Taylor are really close :-).
As pointed out earlier, she is coming a long distance to check us out - and Fall colors and the season in swing can't hurt. I believe (biased, for sure) that OSU is among the prettiest college campuses around, so letting Corvallis/OSU/tight-knit team work its charm on a recruit first hand is a powerful recruiting tool.
What would really be timely for us (goes without saying, but I will say it) would be (another) very deep tourney run and accolades for our back court positions. A couple of them are on the national watch lists......If we could get the same post-whisperer recognition going for PGs and SGs, perhaps it would help us land a few of these standouts.
I wonder if Sasha will be here for the school field trip game? Gill gets packed and loud for that game! (Memo to self - find ear plugs tomorrow morning).
Go Beavers!

Taylor talked us up to Kennedy Brown and that turned out well. Let's hope she does the same with Sasha Goforth. Half of our wnba draftees are a pg and a sg. We led the country in 3 point percentage last year. One of the best point guards as a freshman chose to transfer here. I think we are at, or at least close to, getting national recognition for what Rueck and staff can do with a player willing to work hard.

She said she was blown away by the atmosphere and is having a great weekend so far. I love seeing these great prospects excited about considering the Beavs on their short-list. Women’s hoops is really a joy these days at OSU!

That is very good news about Sasha! She will certainly help fill the void a few of those players who played tonight will leave. Both defensively and offensively she will fit Rueck’s system. Can’t help but think of KTMac....

Sasha seemed thrilled to get a scholly offer from UCLA, and is getting attention from the blue-bloods. Hopefully we will hear something about the Beavers in her twitter feed someday soon, though this was an unofficial visit, I guess......
Go Beavers!

Sasha looks great in orange, white, and black beaver garments! Hope to see her in more of that in years to come!
