Let's say the rumors of $10M per year backed by Uncle Phil are true. Who does that open up as an option for them? I'll start: 1. Dana Holgorsen 2. Greg Schiano 3. PJ Fleck Fleck to me is the one Oregon isn't and probably shouldn't be considering - I think they need a coach who has been relatively overachieving somewhere that doesn't have Oregon's vast resources, but is still big-boy football. I know some NFL retreads didn't work out as college HC's but Carroll's story makes it enticing to try and go that route. Will be interesting to watch it unfold. Fiutek wrote a moderately funny article on the rumor they will pay $10M/year, which is more than Saban makes, more than Meyer makes, and more than Harbaugh makes, by a decent margin. It's also more than Carroll and Bellichick make. In other words, stupid money, and really would make a complete mockery of college football, not that Oregon doesn't do that now. Schiano and $10M/Year should never be in the same paragraph...ever, same goes for Fleck and Holgersen. $10M/year....Gruden? $10M/year....Payton? $10M/year...Arians? heck, might as well put a call in to Cowher. Stoops? Franklin? Screw it, go get Beau Baldwin, he'd probably go further than all of them! Agreed! I'm glad we got GA, but Baldwin would have had a real good shot at the job had he not appeared out of nowhere. I'm almost certain that Vernon Adams would have followed him to Corvallis, too. I think that Baldwin is dynamic (nice if he were a D1 OC for a couple of years, but he may be ready). He's actually one of the scarier possibilities we're he to get that job. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get the job after a colossal self-grandiose campaign by their "brain-trust", leaving them with a 5th or 6th choice, ala Altman in hoops. I'm afraid that getting a salt of the earth under the radar guy like Baldwin could end up paying similar dividends to what Altman has done too. I hope that hole doesn't get over themselves and continues to chase fluff. With their insane financial resources and win at all costs/by any means mentality, all they need is a solid coach and they can thrive.

VA won at least 4 games for the ducks just by him scrambling and finding the deep guy to break the defense's back. Im going to venture to say Beavs would have won 3 or 4 more games too. But long term, i don't know what kind of a leader Beau Baldwinn is. GA is a dam good leader.

He sure seems to get his teams ready and they play hard, but we don't know how that would translate to the PAC 12. He'll eventually get his shot somewhere!

Sources saying that Les Miles was seen in Beaverton earlier this week...uh oh. If this does pan out, that would suck. I actually like Les Miles and hes a coach who's teams are seen as tough. Certainly a players coach. twitter.com/intent/like?tweet_id=804159170773553152My opinion is that he and AD Uncle Phil would mix like oil and water. Miles is no yes man. 4-5 mill per year with a 10-15 mill buy out would make it a bit easier to say, "Yes Sir, Sir". At 63 years I would think Mr. Miles is starting to think about retirement in the not to distant future.

Heck, I know lots of people who achieved greatness with little monetary reward: We joined the Marine Corps

Hey, good chance in the wrong forum to ask this, but my wife and I are supporters and promote supporting returning vets that need our help. We are members of Wounded Warrior, of course there's a lot of pro and con arguments with every organization. Do you have any recommendations in this area? Thank you in advance!

I meant to inject a little humor with my "USMC Greatness" comment. We're not always as great as we think we are. Most charities are also not as great as we would like. Most American Legion or VFW Posts know who the local Vets are who need a little assistance at times. They would be my best recommendation. Thanks. Hope our resident Dictator doesn't swing his scimitar at our off topic posts.
