seems funny to say he was fired. He still gets paid the same, just without having to show up to work each day. Not a bad gig.

On a completely different arc... this firing could be bad news. One of the things "new blood" could/ should do is eliminate all the career coaches at TSDTR. Some, like Cambpell, who were/ are responsible for many of the NCAA violations dating to 1996 being gone could actually lead to a better environment.
I hope whom ever they hire is an arrogant DB and keeps the image of the program as putrid as it's been for some time.

Bellotti reportedly has taken his name out of consideration. Ha. There was actually a post on educk a day or so ago talking about hiring Bellotti as interim coach for a year or two. Those guys crack me up sometimes. |

I would just love for them to hire someone like Lane Kiffin. Helfrich actually seems like a nice guy. He's too likable for them!

I wondered why they fired him on a late Tuesday night, I think Helfrich got tired of being jerked around by Mullens and told him to either get rid of me or announce I am staying. I also think that Oregon has been working out a deal with another coach as they kept Helfrich hanging in the wind.

Young coach takes over moribund mid-major, goes from doormat to nationally ranked in four seasons. Players coach, uses catch phrases and passion to motivate his players. I fail to see how I'm wrong that PJ Fleck's origin story closely resembles that of our own coach. |
