Beavs don't have anybody that can guard Hidalgo and The Irish don't have anybody that can guard Beers. So my thought is that the game will come down to a couple of things. How they are able to help on those two without giving up easy looks and how well the two teams shoot from 3. Like rgeorge said, whoever shoots best that day will likely win because they are pretty evenly matched. I agree about defending Hildago, but I suspect there’s few players in the NCAA better equipped to defend her straight up than Dono. Dono makes players really earn their scoring.

It seems to me the best way to defeat such a good scorer is to make them play on both ends of the floor, especially when there is a limited bench for a break. Run everything at Hidalgo and see if you can get some early fouls or get her tired.

Probably not wear her out, but she does get into foul trouble with all of those steals.

Key to the game is can we successfully attack their zone AND keep ND out of transition. Can we attack gaps with either the dribble or the pass and set up good shots? I believe Westbeld and Gardiner are fairly similar players so how do they do in that match up? i’m really excited for the game because it’s a very interesting matchup in styles. Westbeld and Gardiner are very similar statistically. Per/40 mins. Westbeld is a little better in rebounding and Gardiner is a little better at 3 pt shooting. Oh, and Gardiner has been playing 1 1/3 years and Westbeld has been playing 4 years. The stats may say Westbeld is a little better rebounder but the eye test tells me Gardiner is the better and tougher rebounder. I also think Gardiner is the better defender. Timea should win this matchup. Beers should overpower whoever guards her. The most interesting thing to me is pg matchup---Can the 6' Dono stay with the 5'6" Hildago and will Dono's height and reach be able to affect Hildago's shot? Or will ND effectively use screens to free Hildago from Dono? This should be a very interesting game!

I will be interested to see how Beavs defend against the high ball screens for Hidalgo. Will the Beaver guards switch or fight over screens? My biggest concern is Hidalgo getting to the rim and creating the perception of a foul by our BIGs (HH falls to the ground on every shot at the rim). Will Kennedie get some time defending HH? Will OSU keep one guard back at all times to defend the ND fast break?
Going to be an interesting chess match. I think ND's success depends on Citron and Westbeld being successful on offense.

Hidalgo also seems to be excellent at the one handed bounce pass getting under the much taller defender.

I think it's the UHY Center on Siena's campus. The map shows Newtonville, about six or eight miles from downtown Albany. Hey! How do you pronounce Albany (laughing, sarcasm)

Look at the picture of Lily in the article on her. Mychal Thompson (yes, Klay's dad) is the Blazers all time blocks leader. I think he was 6'11' but not a leaper. When asked how he blocked so many shots, he said he tried to block shots from the side, as does Lilly in this picture, or from behind which Lilly did in the last two games. You don't have to have great hops as the shot is in the low part of its trajectory, just great timing, which Lilly is showing she has.

RealTimeRPI Gamer has 57% chance of OSU winning. Score OSU 63 ND 60. Their algorithm is purely from stats.
